The laying hens became the old-age laying hens when they entered the late stage of laying,and the production performance and eggshell quality decreased significantly.The decline of eggshell quality leads to the increase of egg loss in the process of transportation and processing,which has brought huge economic losses to the poultry industry.This experiment took the aged Hailan Brown laying hens as the research object to explore the effects of Chinese herbal compound additives on the production performance,serum indexes,egg quality and egg yolk nutrients of aged Hailan Brown laying hens,in order to provide a scientific basis for the application of Chinese herbal compound additives in aged laying hens.900 440 day old Hailan brown layers were randomly divided into control group and experimental group,with 5 replicates in each group and 90 in each replicate.The control group was fed with basic diet,and the experimental group was added with 0.2 % compound additive of Chinese herbal medicine.The pre feeding period was 7 days and the experimental period was 56 days.The test results are as follows:1.Production performance: there was no significant difference in average egg weight and laying rate of old Hailan brown layers in the experimental group(P > 0.05);The dead panning rate and broken(soft)egg rate decreased by 32.50% and 15.11% respectively(P < 0.05);The feed egg ratio decreased by 9.38%(P < 0.01).2.Economic benefits : the average income of each old Hailan brown layer in the experimental group was 0.61 yuan,and the profit increased by 15.12%.3.Egg quality: in the experimental group,the egg shell strength,protein height and Hastelloy unit of old Hailan brown eggs increased by 12.38%,16.38% and 9.84% respectively(P< 0.05).4.Eggshell microstructure: the surface cuticle of the egg shell of the old Hailan brown egg in the experimental group was smooth,with fewer cracks,smaller cracks and narrow width;The vertical crystal layer has neat section,clear lattice edges and corners,dense arrangement,large number of holes,uniform distribution and consistent size;The palisade layer is dense,the milk cone layer is closely connected,the mastoid process is wide and closely connected with the eggshell membrane.5.Serum biochemical indexes: the triglyceride level of old Hailan brown layers in the experimental group decreased by 55.00%,IFN-γ、IL-2 by 25.85% and 40.99% respectively(P <0.01);The total cholesterol level decreased by 9.83% and the globulin level increased by 21.64%(P < 0.05).6.Antioxidant indexes: T-AOC、T-CAT and T-SOD activity of old Hailan brown layers in the experimental group increased by 1.92%,22.28% and 7.03% respectively(P < 0.01).7.Nutritional composition of egg yolk: in the experimental group,the proportion of crude ash in egg yolk of Hailan brown egg increased by 15.31%,the content of cholesterol decreased by 38.91%,the content of phosphorus in egg yolk increased by 12.52%,the content of magnesium increased by 7.56%,the content of selenium increased by 5.41%,the content of vitamin E increased by 9.82%,the content of aspartic acid increased by 2.42%,the content of threonine increased by 1.67%,the content of serine increased by 3.30%,and the content of glutamate increased by 3.85% Proline content increased by 2.50%,glycine content increased by 4.65%,alanine content increased by 2.74%,valine content increased by 2.70%,methionine content increased by 8.89%,isoleucine content increased by 3.08%,leucine content increased by 3.48%,tyrosine content increased by 9.26%,lysine content increased by 2.27%,arginine content increased by 5.06%,and total amino acid content increased by 3.40%(P < 0.01).The proportion of crude protein increased by 2.32%,the proportion of crude fat decreased by 8.51%,and the content of VB6 increased by 12.00%(P < 0.05).There was no significant difference in other indexes(P > 0.05).Conclusion:1.Chinese herbal medicine compound additive significantly reduced the broken(soft)egg rate,dead Amoy rate and feed egg ratio of elderly laying hens,and improved the production performance and economic benefits of elderly laying hens.2.Chinese herbal medicine compound additive can reduce the surface crack of eggshell,make the overall structure of eggshell more compact and improve the strength of eggshell;At the same time,it significantly improved the eggshell strength and Hastelloy unit,but had no significant effect on the eggshell thickness.3.Chinese herbal medicine compound additive significantly improved the serum antioxidant capacity of elderly laying hens and significantly reduced the blood triglyceride and cholesterol levels of elderly laying hens;It significantly reduced the content of cholesterol in egg yolk and significantly increased the content of phosphorus,magnesium,selenium,vitamin B6 and total amino acids in egg yolk.
