Aquaculture is occupied a significant position in the structure of agriculture industry structure in China.Aquaculture contributes to optimizing the national dietary structure and ensuring the safety of national food supply.Based on the promotion of the "green development" of aquaculture, aquaculture has become an important industrial support for China’s fishery. However, the aquaculture is a typical resource-constrained industry.Nowadays, the development of traditional elements of the industry is slowing down, the leading force of the industry is weakening, and the stress of environment is rising. So,the industry is developed with many difficulties. In this research,to impel aquacultural upgrading and optimize the quality of aquacultural development,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to study the evolution stages and influencing factors of China’s aquaculture. This study is based on industry evolution theory and life cycle theory, the first comprehensive scholars the division of different stages of industry life cycle, selection of nationwide production data from 1966 to 2019.Using the methods of growth rate of output and Gompertz curve fitting method to construct the China’s aquaculture life cycle model, identify the current life cycle stage of China’s aquaculture industry, and divide the different life cycle stages of the industry.Secondly,an index system of factors on the evolution of the aquaculture was constructed. This research used the data from 1998-2019 nationwide including resources, technology, market, and policy to constructed the evolution model. There are some main conclusions:(1)China’s aquaculture is now in the early stage of maturity. Moreover,China’s aquaculture was in the formative period from 1950 to1978.In the growth period from 1979 to 2004;2005 till now,in the mature stage; On the premise that key factors such as core technology and market have not undergone revolutionary changes,it entered the recession period in 2103.Further exploring how the influencing factors of industrial evolution promote aquaculture upgrading is important. The evolution of aquaculture in China is a fruitful process leading the rapid development of aquaculture by institutional innovation.(2)The top two indicators of the evolution and development of aquaculture are all market demand factors, followed by technical factors and resource factors. Therefore, the current evolution of China’s aquaculture is dominated by institutional forces, driven by market factors, technical factors, and resource factors.Policy support is the dominant driving force for the development of China’s aquaculture, which significantly promotes the evolution of aquaculture.Market demand drives the growth of aquaculture output and the improvement of product quality from the outside; Also, the top two indicators of the evolution and development of aquaculture industry were both market demand factors, followed by technical factors and resource factors. At present, resource factors are still the basis and support for the evolution of aquaculture in China. In order to promote the development quality of aquaculture in China,we can extend the mature period of the aquaculture, maintain the steady growth of the industry, and motivate technological innovation, and accelerate the rapid development of the aquaculture to a new life cycle. It is suggested to combine the construction of "double cycle" pattern,in the demand side: strive to do a good job in leading and managing the consumption demand of aquatic products, and expanding the market. In the supply side:increase investment in science and technology, actively carry out breeding insurance, strengthen the construction of breeding management technical personnel and other aspects of the corresponding suggestions.
