| Since the opening of the first railway in the 19 th century, railways have provided a continuous source of development power for cities around the world. After the reform and opening up,with the high-quality development of urbanization and the upgrading of transportation technology, urban spatial radiation has spread and railway lines have been adjusted. Many old railway facilities in domestic cities have declined into abandoned sites and become the root cause of problems such as urban spatial fragmentation, uneven urban development, and the breeding of traffic hazards. However,as a witness to the rise of China’s transportation industry in the past century and a common memory of the country and the nation,it has extremely rich cultural and technological value. In the context of a large number of historical railways being violently demolished and irreversibly damaged, the protection and development of existing railway cultural heritage in China are increasingly valued. In order to serve the construction of supporting facilities for the Winter Olympics and the needs of urban development, the first mainline railway independently designed and constructed by the Chinese people, the Beijing Zhangjiakou Railway, officially ceased operation in 2016.In February 2023,the southern section of the first phase of the Beijing Zhangjiakou Railway Site Park,as the first park section open to the public after the site regeneration demonstration zone, marks the gradual realization of the plan to transform the railway site into a green urban corridor. At the same time, this project also marks a practical exploration of the renewal and protection of railway heritage in China. This article takes the perspective of cultural heritage regeneration as the starting point to sort out and analyze the historical development, distribution of relics, and the causes of the current spatial situation along the railway urban section of the Beijing Zhangjiakou Railway site.At the same time,it draws on the methods of site regeneration at home and abroad, integrates spatial narrative theory, and connects the three levels of policy designation, design concept, and spatial experience through the dynamic relationship between the leader, site space, and users,Establish a guiding system for the regeneration model of historical heritage. At the same time, attention should be paid to the degree of emotional recognition of local residents towards the site area, and it should be clarified that in the process of site regeneration, not only should we start from the perspective of spatial transformation, but also should adhere to people-oriented principles, respect the main position of community residents, tourists and other stakeholders, and achieve development and harmonious win-win through the bridging of spatial and emotional dimensions. It is of practical significance to use the diverse urban spaces and community forms around the site of the Beijing Zhangjiakou Railway as a long-term study to analyze the diverse value connotations of cultural heritage in the process of urban development; The practical significance of using a combination of qualitative and qualitative analysis to present the overall view of the Beijing Zhangjiakou Railway site area, making up for the weak links in the field of heritage protection, and providing design guidance for site regeneration; And the practical significance of reducing the emotional and spatial equity of community residents affected by site regeneration through sustainable governance strategies.A total of 50000 texts,10 figures, and 10 tables were formed, with 30 references cited. |
