Research On The Optimization Design For The Public Space Environment Of State-funded Rental Housing In Hangzhou

With increasing urbanization,many people immigrate to big cities to find a job.However,facing high housing prices and rents,low-income people are under great strain.To solve this problem,China introduced government-subsidized rental housing and strengthened the construction of relevant projects.As a pilot city of the policy,Hangzhou has been making attempts and breakthroughs in the construction of government-subsidized rental houses.Nevertheless,insufficient importance is given to the design of the public space environment of government-subsidized rental housing.Being barely comfortable,the residential environment of government-subsidized rental housing only provides basic living conditions,failing to take account of the overall environment and bringing several problems,including insufficient public space,distant neighborhood relationships,isolation of residence from the surrounding environment,and separation of residential and rental groups.To study these problems,this paper presented an indepth investigation and proposed relevant improvement strategies.For a start,this paper summarized the development of government-subsidized housing in Hangzhou City and the country as a whole.Then,various data(e.g.,population census,government-subsidized rental housing construction,and market rental housing)were analyzed in detail,field research was conducted at several government-subsidized rental housing and centralized rental housing under use,and four cases were selected for comparative analysis.Besides,existing problems of the public space environment of government-subsidized rental housing in Hangzhou were summarized,with the reason analyzed.Based on the results of theoretical research and field research,this paper,stressing that optimization of public space shall be the objective of the design of government-subsidized rental housing,proposed strategies for design optimization from the following four aspects: urban integrity,the rationality of functional facilities,the role of public space,and the digitalization of residential area.Finally,following the principle of low cost,diversity,and functionality,empirical research was conducted by adopting the optimization strategy in the construction of Shanglan Apartment,a government-subsidized rental housing project in Shangcheng District,Hangzhou City.
