| Since the 18th Party Congress,’new urbanisation’ has become a major strategic policy and has become the focus of attention. In traditional urbanisation, the focus is only on the expansion of population and land, neglecting the other dimensions that make up the urbanisation system, resulting in a low level of overall urban coordination."The "new type of urbanisation" requires a focus on people, sustainability and quality, and a shift from a one-sided pursuit of high speed to a focus on "quality".The focus of urbanisation has shifted from quantity to quality.Qingdao is an economically developed coastal city in China, and has an important strategic position in the Bohai Sea city cluster and the Shandong Peninsula. This paper assesses the quality of Qingdao’s urbanisation and identifies its strengths and weaknesses on the road to quality development,in order to explore a realistic urban development path and help build Qingdao as a gulf metropolis.Firstly, this paper analyses the difference between traditional urbanisation and new urbanisation, and gives a definition of urbanisation quality based on the concept of new urbanisation and relevant literature,so as to lay a theoretical foundation for the subsequent research.Secondly,an urbanisation quality evaluation index system comprising seven dimensions, namely, population, economy, society, space, ecology and environment,urban-rural coordination and resource utilisation efficiency,is established,in which the combination of the first four dimensions is called "urbanisation development quality",reflecting the basic strength of urbanisation, and the combination of the last three dimensions is called The combination of the first four dimensions is called "quality of urbanisation synergy",reflecting the extent to which the adverse effects of urbanisation are overcome.Once again, the history of urbanisation development in Qingdao in recent years was sorted out from three aspects, namely population development, economic development and social development,to gain a preliminary understanding of the characteristics of urbanisation development in Qingdao.Subsequently, relevant data were collected and the IFAHP-entropy weight method was used to measure the quality of urbanisation in Qingdao from 2005 to 2021,and comprehensive quality analysis, quality analysis of each dimension and coupling and coordination analysis of the quality of urbanisation development and synergistic quality were carried out. Then, using the natural interruption point grading method of Arc GIS software, the urbanization quality of the 10 study units within Qingdao is visually expressed and the specific evolution characteristics of the seven districts and three cities are analyzed. Finally, the spatial correlation of urbanisation quality was analysed through global and local autocorrelation, and the hotspot analysis was used to explore its hot and cold differentiation, and to gain insight into the spatial distribution characteristics of urbanisation quality. The study finds that the urbanisation quality of Qingdao is generally on the rise;the spatial concentration of urbanisation quality has increased, and the distribution of urbanisation quality from south to north is characterised by a belt-like pattern of "hot spot-sub-hot spot-transition area-sub-cold spot-cold spot";there are obvious differences in urbanisation quality in the north and south, forming a two-tier division between county-level cities and municipal districts. The phenomenon of urbanisation quality in the north and south of the city has been relatively obvious.Lastly, the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are given for the high-quality development of urbanization in Qingdao. |
