Urbanization is the necessary way for China to achieve modernization, and it is an inevitable requirement for China's socialist modernization and the promotion of all-round social progress. In recent years, the Chinese central government has paid great attention to the issue of urbanization and proposed a series of guiding principles to promote the pace of urbanization.Namely, the coordinated development of urbanization is regarded as the strategic requirement and a way to transform and develop cities over the country in the context of the New Normal(known as'Xinchangtai').In this context, studying the related issues of coordinated development have great strategic significance.Judging from the actual situation of the development of urbanization,China has a vast area with significant regional differences. There are also regional differences in the level of urbanization, and the co-existence of advanced levels of coordinated development of urbanization and lagging areas. With the development of the western region and the strategy for the rise of the central region, the industrial transfer in the eastern coastal areas is accelerating. In the regions with strong resource and environmental carrying capacity in the central and western regions, their paces of urbanization meant to accelerate, and new growth poles are cultivated to strengthen the economic and market development. This spatial feature extends from east to west and from south to north in China, indicating a more rational population economic layout and more coordinated regional development. The dissertation about the coordinated development level of urbanization provides an overall assessment of the coordinated development of the scale of urbanization and the quality of urbanization in the development process of each city.Through the measurement and spatial effect analysis of the coordinated development level of urbanization, the author tries to reveal the advantages and disadvantages of each city's development and then propose more targeted countermeasures. As China's urbanization enters a new period of rapid development and transition, the establishment of a scientific and effective analyzing method for the coordination level of urbanization, based on relevant research and practices, will play a fundamental role in forming future urban strategies. The content of this article mainly includes four parts. The first part(including Chapters 1 and 2)brings about the research background, research significance, research objectives, research content and technical route; Then the author reviews relevant studies on theories of urbanization development, evaluation of urbanization development and spatial effects of urbanization. In the second part(including chapters 3 and 4),the scope and the scale of research of this article are defined. Here the author introduces the status of urbanization development in China from three aspects:development history, development characteristics, and development issues.Based on the assessment of urbanization development quality and development scale, the author proposed a model for measuring the coordinated development level of urbanization(the QS model),and explores the dynamic analysis model(DCLM)of urbanization.By introducing spatial weights,a spatial effect analysis model is constructed based on spatial autocorrelation model and spatial disparity model. Moreover,an analysis model and a driving force analysis model of the spatial evolution of coordinated development of urbanization are constructed. In the third part(including Chapters 5 and 6),based on the theoretical models, the scale of urbanization, the quality of urbanization development, and the coordinated development of urbanization in 286 sample cities across the country were measured and analyzed and calculated. From the results, the author further analyzes the coordinated development status index, deviation degree index, and positive rate index.Through the spatial autocorrelation analysis model, this research analyzes the global autocorrelation and local autocorrelation of the coordinated development level of urbanization in 286 sample cities across the country.Through the analysis of spatial disparity, the author analyzes the actual change of the coordinated development level of urbanization in each sample city.Through the spatial autocorrelation analysis model, the global autocorrelation and local autocorrelation of the coordinated development level of urbanization in 286 sample cities across the country are analyzed.Through the analysis of spatial disparity, the actual change of the coordinated development level of urbanization in each sample city is analyzed.Based on the among analysis and findings, through the analysis of the evolution mechanism of spatio-temporal pattern of urbanization and the spatial econometric regression model, the driving forces of the evolution of the spatial pattern of the coordinated development of urbanization are discussed. In the fourth part(including Chapter VII),main conclusions of this study are summed up,following by enlightenments, suggestions and innovating points of this article. Finally, the author put forward forecast and vison for further research. The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:1)The scale of urbanization in the sample cities of China is relatively stable overall and the overall change is small.2)The urbanization quality of each sample city in China maintains a relatively stable level, but individual years are subject to fluctuations due to specific policy factors and macro-environmental influences3)The coordination degree of urbanization development level of each sample city in China is maintained within a stable range, the overall fluctuation is small, and the overall coordination level is gradually increasing.4)From the perspective of the dynamic distribution of the coordinated development level of urbanization, the development mode of "focusing on scale and neglecting quality" has changed in the process of urbanization. The urbanization quality of each sample town has improved significantly, and the coordinated development level of urbanization has been continuously improved.5)The coordinated development level of various sample cities in China shows a significant spatial correlation in space, with obvious spatial aggregation and regional radiation effects.6)There is little change in the level of coordinated development of urbanization, and the convergence trend and divergence trend are not obvious.7)The coordinated development level of urbanization in all sample cities in China present the evolution trend of the "Northeast-Southwest" spatial pattern. In the driving forces of the spatial pattern evolution of the coordinated development level of urbanization, the internal source is the primary influence factor, followed by the influence of the level of administrative power and the level of investment, and the influence of market power and external force is relatively small.
