Under the implementation and guidance of the high quality development concept, transportation and tourism integration has become an important model for innovative economic and social development. As an important link transportation and tourism integration, highways play an important supporting role in promoting regional linkage and coordinated development of transportation and tourism. The function of highway landscape has also changed, not only to create a comfortable driving environment for drivers and passengers, but also to become a corridor linking tourism resources and a driving force for regional economic development. Therefore, under the background of the transportation and tourism integration, higher requirements have been put forward for the theory and practice of highway landscape design.Firstly, this paper summarizes the related concepts, theoretical foundations, and typical cases of highway landscapes, integrates design guidance concepts, analysis elements, and design contents, and proposes a highway landscape design system under the background of the transportation and tourism integration.Under the background of the transportation and tourism integration, highway landscape design needs to be supported by five major concepts:overall planning,people-oriented,landscape extension, brand building, and tourism services. It should be analyzed from the five aspects of regional background, comprehensive transportation, tourism overview, highway main body, and highway landscape. The design should be guided by the theme positioning of highways and implemented in five systems:transportation, protection, landscape, service, and information to improve the quality and image of highway landscape.Secondly, this paper chooses the Shenmu section of the Highway along the Yellow River as the research object, and conducts empirical research based on the highway landscape design system. The regional background, comprehensive transportation, and regional tourism situation are analyzed, and the tourism resources are analyzed according to national standards.Combining with big data analysis of tourism element development, the multi-level fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method is used to analyze the landscape status of the Shenmu section of the Highway along the Yellow River, and the shortcomings in the development of tourism and transportation along the Shenmu section of the Highway along the Yellow River are pointed out, further clarifying the necessity of highway landscape design. Finally, based on the comprehensive analysis results, this paper conducts overall and special design for the Shenmu section of the Highway along the Yellow River. In the overall design, based on the characteristics of the tourism resources and background analysis factors along the line, the theme positioning of the Shenmu section of the Highway along the Yellow River is determined, and brand IP building is carried out from the perspectives of natural and cultural landscapes, and the highway landscape theme is designed according to the distribution of resources. In the special design,a transportation system, protection system, landscape system, service system, and information system with Yellow River characteristics are designed based on the thematic positioning, cultural characteristics, and tourism resources, thus improving the overall quality of the landscape of the Shenmu section of the Highway along the Yellow River. This paper provides a systematic approach and method for highway landscape design under the background of the transportation and tourism integration, enriches the research content of highway landscape, promotes the research process, provides guidance for theoretical innovation and practical application of highway landscape design, and also provides reference for highway landscape design in the Yellow River region.
