| At present,the wave of digital transformation with the research and development and application of digital technology as the core is surging,and digital technology,as a new engine of industrial development,is bound to produce subversive changes in various industries.Since the reform and opening up,China’s construction project construction practice has achieved outstanding results,and major engineering construction is at the international leading level,which has driven the continuous development of the construction industry.With the rapid development of the construction industry,the number of major engineering construction and complex project management is increasing,which leads to the traditional construction technology and management mode can no longer meet the needs of major engineering construction,and the construction industry urgently needs to be transformed and upgraded.However,although the construction industry has been vigorously promoting digital technology with major projects as pilots,its application situation is not optimistic,and the implementation of digital technology still lags behind the needs of major engineering practices,which greatly restricts the development of major projects and even the entire construction industry.The existing research mostly focuses on a specific technology around the construction industry and enterprises,and has not yet focused on major projects to explore the improvement path of digital technology adoption,and the current research only considers the independent effect of influencing factors,and lacks attention to the relationship between influencing factors.With the help of the demonstration and leading role of major projects,combined with the theory of DOI(diffusion of innovation)and the theoretical framework of TOE(TechnologyOrganization-Environment),this paper uses literature induction and expert interviews to sort out 14 influencing factors of digital technology adoption in major projects.Eight key influencing factors of digital technology adoption were identified by DEMATEL(Decisionmaking Trial and Evaluation Laboratory)analysis,and a antecedent framework was constructed,which was named TOE-D technology adoption antecedent framework.Using the questionnaire survey method to collect data,fs QCA(fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis)explores the configuration effect of antecedents on the results,and obtains 5 configurations that promote the adoption of major engineering digital technology and 3 configurations that lead to the inability to adopt major engineering digital technology,so as to break the barriers to the adoption of major engineering digital technology.The horizontal comparison of the configuration results results to obtain the core edge characteristics of each antecedent in the configuration,and finally draws on the successful experience of digital technology adoption of major projects,and puts forward targeted countermeasure suggestions at the government,industry and enterprise levels based on the research results,so as to provide guidance for the adoption of digital technology of major projects.The study shows that:(1)8 factors play a key role in the adoption of major engineering digital technologies,namely complexity,comparative advantage,senior management support,knowledge stock,resource readiness,participant collaboration,industry guidance and competitive pressure.(2)Four driving types can effectively improve the current status of digital technology adoption in major projects,including “support-resource-collaboration-guidance”type,“support-collaboration-guidance-competition” type,“resource-collaboration-competition”type and “support-resource-competition” type.(3)Complexity is an important issue at the technical level of digital technology adoption.Senior management support,resource readiness,and stakeholder collaboration at the organizational level are the core requirements for configuration.Competitive pressures at the environmental level play a key role in driving digital adoption.From a theoretical point of view,this study takes digital technology as a whole,focuses on major projects to explore the key factors and implementation paths of digital technology adoption,provides effective guidance for the adoption of digital technology in major engineering and construction industries,and fills the gap in the research on digital technology adoption in major projects.Secondly,this study applies configuration theory to the field of technology adoption,analyzes the configuration role of key influencing factors on the adoption of major engineering digital technology from the perspective of configuration,provides research ideas for in-depth analysis of the matching relationship between the antecedent conditions conducive to the adoption of major engineering digital technology,enriches the application scenarios of configuration theory,and makes up for the lack of attention to the correlation of influencing factors of digital technology adoption in existing research.From a practical point of view,the research conclusions can help major projects find a combination of several elements to promote the adoption of digital technology,so that major engineering practitioners can make targeted and precise adjustments,so as to improve the level of digital technology adoption. |
