| In the 14th Five-Year Plan “Outline” report of the Communist Party of China,the“Culture +” strategy is proposed to comprehensively enhance cultural influence.This strategy is considered as an important way to revitalize cultural heritage during the transformation period of cultural heritage cities.The ancient city itself is a symbol and witness of culture,and the old streets,as an important manifestation of the ancient city’s cultural landscape,need to be updated and renovated on the basis of dynamic protection in order to achieve sustainable development and utilization of the ancient city’s old street landscape in the current stage of development.During this process,blind follow-up transformation and the diversity of cultural spaces brought about by landscape development have led to insufficient adaptability of some local cultural spaces in ancient city old streets.Against this background,taking the Northern Shaanxi of Mizhi Ancient Cave as the research object,this study analyzes the elements of the diverse cultural landscape space inside the ancient city old street.It combines the theory of “adaptive updating” with landscape design by infiltration and extension,to achieve the goal of revitalizing the ancient city’s vitality and reshaping the culture.The research content is divided into three parts: In the first part,an overview and study of the theoretical relationship between diverse cultures and “adaptive updating”are conducted to summarize methods for enhancing the adaptive updating of ancient city old streets.It explores landscape cases that combine diverse cultures and adaptive updating,providing a theoretical foundation for the following sections.The second part of the research uses a combination of field survey methods and investigations of the built environment to conduct an “adaptive” analysis of the cultural environment of the old streets within the research object.This analysis aims to identify the influencing landscape elements that impact adaptive updating in the sample old streets.Through this analysis,the research identifies several landscape problems that affect the adaptive updating of old streets in the research area.These problems include the continuity and fragmentation of cultural spatial patterns at the macro-level,the gradual marginalization of cultural event venues at the meso-level,and the lack of connotative content in cultural landmarks at the micro-level.The third part of the research proposes corresponding design principles and strategies based on the landscape problems identified in the second part.These design approaches include the design of cultural space pattern continuity and reconstruction,the design of cultural event space continuation and extension,and the design of cultural element inheritance and updating.To put these proposed design solutions into practice,the research utilizes the three streets of the Mizhi Ancient Cave as the design site and applies the design strategies and methods to achieve landscape updating.Through this practical implementation,the effectiveness of the proposed design principles and strategies can be evaluated and refined,leading to a more comprehensive and successful approach to enhancing the adaptive updating of old streets while preserving their cultural heritage.The research results indicate that a range of design solutions,including control over the spatial pattern and material color of old streets at a macro-scale,limiting space through the proportion of soft and hard elements in cultural event venues at the meso-scale,and integrating cultural landmark elements into regional identity design at the micro-scale are effective in enhancing the adaptive updating of old streets in the presence of diverse cultures.These design strategies have been successfully applied in the Mizhi Ancient Cave and have the potential to offer solutions for preserving the cultural heritage of other ancient city old streets in Shaanbei.By implementing these design strategies,the research successfully addressed the landscape problems of Mizhi Ancient Cave’s old streets,providing a new way to balance cultural heritage conservation and renewal.These design solutions offer valuable insights for other ancient city old streets in Shaanbei and beyond,offering a promising path towards cultural renaissance and preservation. |
