Research On The Spatial Evolution Of Zhaoying Ancient City Context And Its Inheritance Strategy

Zhaoying Ancient City is part of the main urban area of Lintong and is the political,economic and cultural centre of the region.As an important part of the "City Palace" pattern of the Tang Huaqing Palace,Zhaoying Ancient City laid the foundation for the spatial development of the southern bank of the Wei River in Lintong in the historical period,leaving behind a spatial order with unique regional characteristics.The ancient city of Zhaoying set the tone for the spatial development of the southern bank of the Wei River in Lintong,leaving behind a unique spatial order.However,as urbanisation progresses,the spatial pattern and overall appearance of Zhaoying Old Town and its cultural heritage are in danger of disintegration and decline.Therefore,it is an important issue that needs to be addressed in order to restore the ancient city,to continue its historical heritage,and to realise its conservation and sustainable development.This paper takes Zhaoying Ancient City as an object of study,and draws on theories of urban culture and urban morphology to analyse the spatial evolution of Zhaoying Ancient City,based on the spatial characteristics of Zhaoying Ancient City at various stages of development.In this study,the spatial evolution of Zhaoying’s ancient city is analysed,and the factors that influenced the spatial evolution of the city and their mechanisms of action are revealed.In turn,it constructs a system for evaluating the value of Zhaoying’s ancient cultural space and proposes a strategy for its inheritance.It consists of the following three main parts:The first part is an analysis of the evolution of the spatial characteristics of the ancient city of Zhaoying.The three key stages of the spatial evolution of Zhaoying Ancient City are divided into three key points: the social development of the city,the change in political status and the evolution of the pattern.The four phases are: the centralised development of the city and palace as one,the regeneration of the city and palace as separate,the transition to the decay of the city and the renewal of the city as an extension of the city.Secondly,the spatial characteristics of each stage are analysed horizontally from the macro,meso and micro levels from a morphological perspective,and the spatial evolution is compared vertically.Through the analysis of the evolution of its morphological characteristics,the spatial construction of the Old City is reflected in the interplay of social,economic,political and cultural factors at each stage.The second part is an analysis of the spatial evolution of Zhaoying Ancient City’s cultural heritage.Based on the spatial characteristics of Zhaoying Ancient City at each stage,the ’historical information’ that has been internalised in the ancient city space is read,i.e.the spatial elements of the cultural lineage are extracted and analysed.The interaction between the implicit and explicit ontological elements of Zhaoying Ancient City at each stage is analysed,and the spatial evolution of Zhaoying Ancient City is summarised in terms of the influencing factors and modes of action.The natural factors are the original support for the formation of the cultural space,the political and economic factors are the external drivers for the development of the cultural space,and the cultural and social factors are the internal drivers for the evolution of the cultural space.In the third part,the value evaluation system is constructed and the inheritance strategy is proposed.Using hierarchical analysis to construct a value evaluation system for the heritage space,the value of Zhaoying’s ancient city is assessed.It also summarises the current heritage dilemma of Zhaoying Ancient City in terms of the spatial carriers of the spatial elements,the public perception of the ancient city and the corresponding planning policies.Taking into account the results of the value assessment and the core issues,a heritage strategy is proposed for Zhaoying Ancient City.The strategy includes the preservation and structural reshaping of the cultural elements of the ancient city,the maintenance of the associated cultural life and residents’ emotions,and the guidance and suggestions for the future development of the cultural space.Through the process of "spatial characterisation-spatial identification-influence mechanism analysis-value evaluation and strategy formulation Through the process of"spatial characterisation-identification of cultural spaces-analysis of impact mechanisms-value evaluation and strategy formulation",the paper helps people to better understand the laws of the development of Zhaoying Ancient City,grasp the hidden cultural characteristics behind the physical ontology of space,and provide new research ideas for the future development of Zhaoying Ancient City.
