The Town of Qingcheng is a national historical and cultural town.It is the first characteristic town in China. It was built in the Tang Dynasty. It is the water and drought terminal and trade center of the ancient Silk Road.It is known as the "the Yellow River thousand years old town"-Qingcheng ancient town(it called Qingcheng ancient town in the article). The architectural community of its ancient dwellings remained intact. It has strong regional architectural culture characteristics and unique historical cultural values. However, with the advancement of the urbanization process,Qingcheng ancient town have been reduced and aged, and the traditional houses are vacant or even abandoned. The spatial pattern, overall features and cultural inheritance of the ancient towns are facing the crisis of extinction and decline. Therefore, how to maintain the cultural characteristics of the ancient town,to continue the historical context of the ancient town, and to realize the protection of the historic town and its sustainable development and its sustainable development have become an important issue to be solved urgently. This article selects Qingcheng ancient town as the object of studying spatial context. The purpose of this study is to dig out the regional cultural characteristics of Qingcheng ancient town in the perspective of space development, analyze the evolution characteristics of its context, and summarize the mechanism of the evolution of the ancient town.Put forward the inheritance strategy of Qingcheng ancient town, continue the value of ancient town, and inject more vitality into the development of ancient town.At the same time,it also provides corresponding theoretical support for the protection of historical and cultural towns, cultural heritage and the construction of characteristic towns.Firstly, according to the evolution of ancient town space, the development process of Qingcheng ancient town is divided into three stages: military town period(851-1597),commercial town period(1597-1949),agricultural town period(1949-1978),and characteristic town period(1978-present).Secondly,the spatial form evolution of Qingcheng ancient town is analyzed. The spatial form characteristics of each stage of Qingcheng ancient town have undergone the process of transformation from inward defense to outward opening, and experienced the spatial evolution mode of centralized development, area expansion, internal filling, extension expansion and internal renewal.Thirdly,on the basis of the analysis of spatial morphology,we extract four stages of spatial context elements, analyze the process of spatial context evolution, summarize the influencing factors of spatial context evolution and their mode of action, and conclude that natural factors are the basic conditions of evolution, policy factors are the driving force of evolution, economic factors are the supporting force of evolution, and cultural factors are the catalytic force of evolution. Finally, based on the analytic hierarchy process(AHP)and the expert investigation method(Delphi),the spatial context value evaluation system of ancient town is established, and four evaluation levels are set up,covering the ontological value, spatial relevance, association of social culture, inheritance and development of ancient town culture four aspects of evaluation, the Qingcheng ancient town spatial context value of a systematic and scientific evaluation.Based on this, the protection and inheritance strategy of ancient town spatial context is put forward.
