In the early days of the People’s Republic of China, the state built a series of worker housing blocks to match industrial production, drawing on the planning patterns of European,n and Soviet settlements, the evolution of its planning mode reflects the practice and exploration of the country’s residential planning under the planned economy system, and also witness the development of the social welfare level of the working class in our country,in this paper,it is defined as“Industrial heritage residential district”.With the development of society, some old industrial urban areas lag behind, which leads to the formation of differences in the texture between cities and blocks and the breakdown of social network,it hinders the improvement of the residents’ quality of life and the continuation of the neighborhood memory. In the context of urban renewal, this paper, guided by the theory of environmental perception, finds problems in the analysis of the environmental characteristics and residents’ perceived needs of the industrial heritage residential blocks, this paper sums up three dimensionalities which can satisfy the sustainable development of the industrial heritage residential blocks:environmental aesthetics, cultural connotation, neighborhood atmosphere, and constructs the design consciousness, and sums up the elements of the landscape image of the residential blocks, take the area space, the transportation system, the infrastructure, the sign recognition, the node space, the boundary space as the block environment overall promotion six big sub-item design points, finally, the cultural environment of the industrial heritage blocks, functional facilities and the continuity of the memory of the place for its vitality, into the current urban development.Because of the difference of perception in the needs of different individuals, the author advocates the “ Bottom-up ” and “ Mass participation” design research methods, the aim is to correct the traditional design pattern that only pays attention to "Quantity" and neglects "Quality".Finally, the practice of landscape upgrading design of Simian residential district in Xi’an from the perspective of environmental perception is carried out to verify the universality of the design strategy. |
