Research On Renewal Design Of Industrial Remains Along Jialing River In Central Urban Area Of Chongqing

Chinese urban construction has been transformed from "incremental development" to "stock renewal".Industrial remains are not only a valuable cultural gene,but also an important part of urban renewal.In the past,the extensive urban renewal model of "demolition and reconstruction" blindly pursued economic benefits to cater to the development of modern urban construction,resulting in irreversible damage to a large number of valuable industrial remains.At the same time,the newly built urban space ignores the historical and humanistic connotations,and the regional cultural characteristics of the city are gradually disappearing.In recent years,with the transformation of the concept of urban renewal,China have successively seen many successful industrial renewal cases.However,due to the unique characteristics of industrial remains,more local renewal concepts and strategies are needed.Chongqing has a deep industrial origin.With the adjustment of the industrial structure,a large number of industrial enterprises have relocated,leaving large and small regional industrial remains in the central city.Unfortunately,most of the industrial remains have disappeared in the "bulldozer type" renewal,and the material environment and functional structure of the few remaining industrial remains are seriously backward.Industrial remains often bear witness to the development and history of a city and region,and show valuable value in culture,spirit,society,and economy.However,Chongqing’s urban renewal is still in its infancy,and its awareness and methods of renewing industrial remains are relatively lagging behind.How to make the industrial remains adapt to urban renewal in a more appropriate manner is worthy of consideration and research.Therefore,this paper selects a typical case of the central city of Chongqing for planning and design research,and discusses an updated design method that is suitable for the protection and reuse of industrial remains in the development of modern urban construction and is combined with local characteristics.This design research first conducted research on the relevant theories of urban renewal and industrial renewal at home and abroad,and learned that the renewal of industrial remains should start from the protection and reuse,which is a comprehensive renewal integrated into the economy,society,environment,culture and people.And through the research of place theory and related theories,it is found that “Genius loci”plays a key role in highlighting the cultural characteristics and connotations of urban industrial remains and preserving local characteristics,cultural genes,and emotional memory.It can be interpreted through the "space" that people can feel and experience and grasping and perceiving the "characteristics" of special atmosphere.At the same time,this paper analyzes the relevant practice status of industrial renewal in urban renewal at home and abroad,sorts out the existing research results,and selects representative typical design practice cases,summarizes and analyzes its design concepts,strategies and methods,and finds industrial renewal of remains often requiring a more comprehensive and systematic renewal strategy,and refines the experience that can be used for reference,summarizes the renewal strategy of industrial remains from the macro,meso and micro perspectives.This topic selects Chang’an Factory,the Former 10 th Ordnance Factory in Jiangbei District as the research object,which is the industrial remains preserved along the Jialing River in the central city of Chongqing.Through an in-depth understanding of the urban industrial development background of Chongqing and the status quo of the industrial remains along the Jialing River in the central city,the existing problems are found.Then,based on the research ideas,starting with the research of "space" and "characteristics",conduct on-site investigations,questionnaire surveys and in-depth interviews of the Former 10 th Ordnance Factory in Dashiba and summarize and analyze its current problems.Then,in view of the core issues,combined with the advanced experience in related theories and practical research,this paper cuts in from the three aspects of industrial heritage protection and reuse,environmental quality improvement and urban vitality,and puts forward three major strategies from the macro,meso and micro levels: function transformation,space combing and place creating.At the same time,through studying the place theory,understanding the connotation of place spirit and its value and role in the renewal,this paper takes the return of Genius loci as the starting point,interprets the spirit of base place,complies with the three major design strategies,and starting from the design concept of “protection”,"growth" and "activation" to carry out the overall design,special design and key area design.Finally,a comprehensive and systematic summary of the main points of the research on this subject is carried out,and the deficiencies of the research are pointed out,and the prospect of related research in the future is expressed.The results of this design project cover two parts: design text and design research report.The purpose of this research is to explore the concept and design method of industrial heritage renewal based on the Genius loci,so as to achieve the following goals: industrial transformation and functional transformation of industrial remains,tapping the potential of cultural connotation and regeneration value,activating urban economy and vitality,improving urban space and environmental quality,and forming urban landmark area with regional cultural characteristics,so as to promote the urban renewal of Chongqing and industrial heritage renewal.
