Research On Landscape Improvement Design Of Old Industrial Residential Area Based On Place Memory

In the context of urbanisation and the transformation of old neighbourhoods,the urban landscape and the environment of old neighbourhoods have been transformed,but while the urbanisation process has been fruitful,the problems of "homogenisation" and "one city in a thousand" have also emerged,with old industrial settlements being neglected and The old industrial neighbourhoods have been neglected,assimilated and submerged in tens of thousands of old neighbourhoods,replaced by almost identical streets,buildings and landscapes.A serious loss of place memory can cause cities and settlements to lose their connection with their inhabitants,their original cultural heritage and historical spirit,making it difficult for residents to find a sense of identity and belonging.The industrial culture and historical memory implied in old industrial settlements is the overall emotional support of people living in those days,full of vitality and cultural connotation,and cannot be easily erased.This paper takes the memory of place as the entry point,combining literature review method,field research method,on-site questionnaire survey method,semi-structured interview method and drawing cognitive map method,to carry out research on the landscape enhancement design of old industrial residential areas,and the results of the study are as follows:(1)The relevant concepts of this paper are defined;the current status of domestic and international research on old industrial settlements and place memory is introduced;the current research progress on old industrial settlements and place memory is analysed and the existing problems are summarised.(2)Conducting field research on twelve old industrial settlements in Changchun,the paper classifies the current landscape situation of old industrial settlements into four types and proposes three common problems;analyses the components of the memory landscape of old industrial settlements in terms of both material and immaterial;analyses the characteristics of place memory in old industrial settlements;proposes the significance of renewing the landscape of old industrial settlements based on place memory.(3)Based on the analysis of cases related to place memory or landscape enhancement design of old industrial residential areas at home and abroad,as well as the above analysis of old industrial residential areas based on place memory,the objectives,principles and design strategies of landscape enhancement of old industrial residential areas based on place memory are proposed,and the design strategies are developed from two aspects: the shaping of material memory landscape and the expression of immaterial memory landscape,specifically: the use of natural landscape Construction of urban ecological communities to create a pleasant microclimate;appropriate topographical treatment to create different spatial feelings;preservation of original site plants as far as possible to enrich the plant landscape.The construction of artificial landscape: introducing heterogeneous elements to create strong contrast;condensing the expression of memory symbols to increase recognisability;humanising details to create a comfortable and pleasant landscape.Expression of intangible memory landscape:collate memory fragments and select valuable memory nodes;superimpose old themes and construct new ones;retain and enrich the functions of the site to stimulate the vitality of the settlement;protect the originality of life and maintain the residents’ original social network.(4)Combining with the actual situation,the new district of Changke Factory West and Changke Garden District in the Changke residential area are taken as examples,and the current situation of the site is analysed according to on-site questionnaires and interviews,and the landscape enhancement strategies proposed above are combined to complete the landscape enhancement design practice of the old industrial residential area based on place memory.This paper provides a strong reference value for exploring the landscape enhancement design of old industrial residential areas based on place memory,and has important theoretical and practical significance.It provides new design ideas for the inheritance and development of place memory in old industrial residential areas.
