Waterfront regeneration is an important driver of urban development, and related practices are spreading from developed countries to the world. In the process of regeneration, the production function of urban waterfronts is gradually transformed into consumption function, and recreation becomes the basic orientation of waterfront regeneration. Many practices show that regardless of the initial orientation, active or passive, recreational regeneration has almost always become an indispensable element in the development of urban waterfronts. At the same time, the advent of the information age has brought a variety of new data analysis tools, which provide new scientific ideas for studying the recreation of urban waterfronts. In the context of the lack of urban waterfront-related research, this paper will conduct a more in-depth study on urban waterfront recreation from how to use big data to quantitatively analyze the waterfront space, establish a comprehensive waterfront recreation evaluation system, and reasonably propose updated strategies for urban waterfront recreation development. This paper selects the four banks of the two rivers in Chongqing as the research object, compares the relevant research at home and abroad, takes the existing waterfront recreation theory research as the entry point for qualitative analysis, summarizes the general development law of waterfront and city, and extracts the key influencing factors of recreation, and uses software such as Arc GIS Pro and Python to quantitatively analyze the relevant data of waterfront, and explores the recreation of Chongqing waterfront.development level. Finally, based on the analysis results, the improvement strategies of urban waterfront recreation are proposed to promote the sustainable development of waterfront space.Based on the existing theoretical research, the influencing factors of urban waterfront recreation are divided into four aspects: crowd activity, traffic organization, functional mode and spatial environment to evaluate the waterfront space along the two rivers and four shores of Chongqing. After selecting the evaluation contents, each content in the two rivers and four shores is decomposed into quantifiable indicators, relevant data are collected, and the indicators are analyzed and determined. Finally, the weighted summary of each indicator is combined with the weight value obtained from hierarchical analysis to obtain the level of recreation of the two rivers and four banks within the study area, and then by classifying the level of recreation of each area of the two rivers and four banks, targeted improvement strategies are proposed according to the different recreation problems of each area. The study also echoes the findings of the study and the renewal strategies through three representative waterfront recreation design. The design is designed to improve the level of recreation along the two rivers and the four banks of the river by improving the traffic organization, enriching the functional mode, improving the spatial environment, and creating spatial forms to solve their corresponding problems. The research value of this paper is to summarize the general development law of the relationship between waterfront and city, explore the influencing factors of waterfront recreation and construct a recreation assessment system, and propose an effective and well-founded landscape enhancement strategy.By considering the recreation landscape design from multiple perspectives and applying relevant strategies to improve the common problems in urban waterfront areas, such as imperfect traffic organization system, unsound spatial function business, poor quality of landscape space, lack of landscape infrastructure, weak local cultural characteristics, etc.,thus providing some guidance and practical value to the development of recreation in urban waterfront areas.
