The Spatial Pattern Evolution And Influencing Factors Of Manufacturing Industry In Lanzhou

As a "booster" to drive the high-quality development of China’s economy and a "propeller" to prevent the hollowing of urban industries,the manufacturing industry’s spatial evolution characteristics and identification of influence factors are important to optimize the spatial layout of urban industries and rational allocation of resources.Based on China’s economic environment and the current situation of regional industrial transfer,in the new wave of industrial transformation and development and spatial reconstruction,how to grasp the spatial evolution pattern of manufacturing industry in large western cities and provide a beneficial path exploration for the high-quality development of manufacturing industry is a significant issue that needs to be solved urgently for the current industrial transformation and upgrading.The study take Lanzhou,an important industrial base in Northwest China,as an case area and use micro-enterprise data from 1990 to 2020 to focus on the the spatial pattern evolution characteristics and evolution patterns of manufacturing industry in Lanzhou from 1990 to 2020 under the street scale by means of average nearest neighbor analysis and kernel density,etc.Then measure the influencing factors and the spatial heterogeneity of the influence effects of each factor by using geographic detector and geographically weighted regression models,and analyze the mechanism of their effects in depth.On this basis,the problems in manufacturing industry are diagnosed and optimization strategies are proposed in order to provide scientific references for governments to formulate industrial development strategies.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)From the perspective of spatial structure,the manufacturing enterprises in Lanzhou have changed from the "double center" composed of Chengguan and Xigu district at the initial stage to the spatial pattern of "three-legged" in Chengguan,Anning-Qilihe,and Xigu District,and further evolved into the spatial form of "continuous distribution of central urban areas and scattered distribution in the suburb areas",which currently shows the structural characteristics of "multi-center concentration and continuous axial development".The three generations of "new areas" represented by development zones,new urban and state-level new areas provide manufacturing enterprises with spatial agglomeration carriers and reshape the economic geography of manufacture.(2)The Manufacturing enterprises in Lanzhou have significant agglomeration characteristics,but different industries have different agglomeration degrees and show obvious differences in spatial distribution.From 1990 to 2020,the agglomeration degree of capital-intensive and labor-intensive manufacturing industry tended to strengthen and then weaken over time,and the degree of aggregation of technology-intensive manufacturing industry had instantly increased.The labor-intensive manufacturing enterprises were distributed in central urban areas,near and far suburbs,and the phenomenon of suburbanization was obvious.The capital-intensive manufacturing enterprises showed a trend of transferring from the old industrial base in the central urban area to the state-level new area in the far suburbs.The distribution center of technology-intensive manufacturing enterprises were obvious,and development and national new areas were the main carriers they rely on.(3)From the viewpoint of influence factors,policy,land price,transportation factor and agglomeration economy were the main influence factors of the spatial distribution of manufacturing enterprises in Lanzhou.Among them,the land price had a negative impact on the location choice of manufacturing enterprises,and other influence factors had a positive effect.Among these factors,the spatial heterogeneity of policy factors characterized by national-level new zones and development zones was more significant.The spatial heterogeneity of the agglomeration economy characterized by the number of enterprises was relatively stable.The factors were interlinked and work together in the development and evolution of Lanzhou’s manufacturing industry,making the spatial accumulation and diffusion of the manufacturing industry in Lanzhou coexist and finally forming new agglomeration centers and suburbanization trends.From the perspective of different types of industries,the spatial distribution of labor-intensive manufacturing enterprises were mainly influenced by population density and industrial land price,the capital-intensive manufacturing enterprises were most significantly influenced by the number of enterprise clusters,road network density,state-level new areas and development zones,the spatial layout of technology-intensive manufacturing enterprises were more concerned about the influence of the number of enterprise clusters,state-level new areas and development zones.(4)The problems of manufacturing industry spatial layout in Lanzhou mainly include: the manufacturing industry is mainly concentrated in the central city and has a weak driving effect on the suburbs;the proportion of the traditional manufacturing industry was high,and it is difficult to transform the industry;the development of manufacturing space was limited,the layout was scattered,and the scale benefit was not outstanding;the distribution pattern of manufacturing industry relying on scientific and academic research institutions was not obvious,the innovation motivation was insufficient.In order to solve the above problems,this study proposed to vigorously promote manufacturing enterprises to "go out of the city and enter the park" to expand the development space;improve infrastructure construction and strengthen the space carrier effect;promote the integration of production,education and research,build an innovation-driven development model;seize policy opportunities,actively open up the outside world to promote the spatial adjustment and optimization of manufacturing industry and promote the high-quality economic development of Lanzhou.
