The government work report of 2018 pointed out that China's economy has been in a new stage of transition from high-speed growth to high-quality development. To transform our economy from rapid growth to high quality development is not only an inevitable requirement for maintaining the sustained and healthy development of our economy and society, but also an inevitable requirement for building a modern socialist country in an all-round way.In order to achieve high-quality economic development,China must rely on the technological upgrading of the manufacturing industry, and the improvement of the technological strength of the manufacturing industry is also the key to the realization of the "made in China 2025" development goal.As a benchmark of the manufacturing industry and a pillar industry of the national economy, the development of the automobile industry can drive the development of many upstream and downstream related industries. And automobile industry is very representative in manufacturing industry. The improvement of the technical strength of the automobile industry will not only help China's transition from a big automobile country to a car power, but also provide a reference for the technological upgrading of China's manufacturing industry. And the improvement of the technical strength of the automobile industry provides new dynamism for the development of China's new economic stage.Taking the automobile industry as an example, this paper studies the impact of technology introduction and R&D investment on the industry's total factor productivity in the development of China's automobile industry, and provides reference for the high-quality development of the new stage of the automobile industry, and provides reference for the technological upgrading of China's manufacturing industry. In view of the availability of data, this paper focuses on the impact of the technology introduction method of purchasing foreign technology and the research and development funds and technical personnel input of the automobile industry on the total factor productivity of China's automobile industry. At the same time, the impact of foreign direct investment on the total factor productivity of China's automobile industry is controlled by introducing variables related to foreign direct investment in the model.By searching for relevant data, this paper divides China's automobile industry into automobile manufacturing industry, modified automobile manufacturing, motorcycle manufacturing, vehicle engine manufacturing, automobile and motorcycle parts manufacturing industry according to the composition of automobile industry.Research in a sub-industry.Firstly,the impact of technology introduction and R&D investment on total factor productivity of China's automobile industry is analyzed as a whole.Secondly, analysis the impact of technology introduction and R&D on the total factor productivity of China's automobile industry at different stages of the development of the automotive industry.Thirdly, compare and analyze the influence of technology introduction and R&D on different sub-industries of China's automobile industry.Finally,Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition method is used to study the contribution rate of technology introduction and R&D input to the total factor productivity difference between different sub-industries and the whole industry of China's automobile industry, and further analyze the impact of technology introduction and R&D input on China's automobile industry.Through empirical analysis, the paper has obtained the following research results:First, the current technology introduction method of purchasing foreign technology has no obvious positive impact on the total factor productivity of the automobile industry.Second,R&D input of the automobile industry has a significant positive impact on the total factor productivity of the automobile industry.Thirdly,FDI can have a significant positive impact on the total factor productivity of automobile industry through the flow of human capital between foreign-funded enterprises and domestic-funded enterprises and the links between related industries in the industry.Fourthly, the digestion and absorption of imported technology by the automobile industry is still insufficient to have a significant positive impact on the total factor productivity of the industry.According to the research results, this paper puts forward corresponding suggestions from the government level and the enterprise level.
