Research On The Influence Of Children’s Play Space Characteristics On Play Activities In Urban Parks

The children’s play space in urban parks is an important place for children to carry out play activities,and with the increase of children’s population and the acceleration of urbanization,the degradation of the play space environment hinders children’s play activities.In this study,34children’s play spaces in Changchun were selected as research objects,and the relationship between children’s play space characteristics and their play activities was constructed through FCN image semantic segmentation technology,spatial syntax,field survey,questionnaire survey,stepwise regression model,structural equation model and intermediary test,which provided a basis for the design and optimization of children’s play space in urban parks.Firstly,20 park samples were obtained according to the basic situation of the research area,children’s population characteristics,park POI data,etc.,and then 34 children’s play space samples were determined by field investigation of the selected parks.Secondly,the method of on-site random sampling was used to conduct questionnaire research on the modified PARK TOOL scale for children aged 3-12 in the sample space,and the perceptual characteristics of 4categories and 24 subcategories were obtained,and the characteristics of children’s play activities were obtained in combination with behavioral observation and self-report.Through field survey,FCN image semantic segmentation,spatial syntax DepthMap software,and Colorimpact software quantified the spatial material characteristics of 4 categories and 21 subclasses.Thirdly,based on this,empirical research is carried out,and a number of stepwise regression models,path analysis models and mediation effect models are established to explore the direct impact of children’s spatial material characteristics and perception characteristics on game activities,and to explore the mediating role of children’s spatial perception characteristics.Finally,according to the analysis results,this study proposes environmental optimization strategies from the perspective of improving the physical environment configuration and landscape perception of children’s play space,and from the perspective of children’s play space under different park green space classifications,so that children can increase play activities and promote children’s healthy growth.The results showed that gender,age,and parental education level had the greatest influence on children’s and family attributes on their play activities,and age had the greatest impact.Among the material characteristics of children’s play space,spatial scale,green viewing rate and number of lighting facilities had an impact on their play activities,and the number of lighting facilities had the greatest impact.Among the perceptual characteristics,the quality of environmental water features,the number of recreational facilities,the number of play facilities,the surveillable situation,the safety of children’s play,and the suitability of walking had the greatest impact on their play activities,and the number of recreational facilities had the greatest impact.The spatial elements and facility elements in the multi-dimensional material characteristics have an impact on children’s play activities,and the influence of facility elements is the largest.Spatial services and spatial security in multi-dimensional perception characteristics have an impact on children’s play activities,and spatial security has the greatest impact.In the overall influence path model of children’s play space on play activities,the material characteristics and perceptual characteristics of children’s play space have a direct impact on game activities,and the influence of perceptual features is greater than that of material characteristics.At the same time,the spatial perception characteristics of children’s games also have a mediating effect,that is,the material characteristics of children’s play space have a direct impact on game activities,and also indirectly affect children’s play activities through children’s game spatial perception characteristics.This study explores the influence of children’s play space characteristics on play activities in urban parks from the two levels of material factors and perceptual factors,and proposes optimization strategies to improve the quality of children’s play space,which provides certain reference significance for the transformation and improvement of children’s play space in urban parks at home and abroad.
