Under the background of vigorously advocating the protection of history and culture and carrying forward the national spirit in urban and rural construction,combined with the current situation that the historical relics of the Theravada Buddhist architecture are rapidly updating and changing,and the research on the architecture of Theravada Buddhism in Pu’er area of Yunnan is not in-depth and comprehensive.Therefore,the topic of this thesis focuses on the systematic study of the architecture of Theravada Buddhism in Pu’er,in order to explore the characteristics of corresponding regional ethnic construction techniques on the basis of combing the development and evolution of local Buddhist temple architecture,and form a theoretical basis for academic research,ethnic cultural inheritance and architectural heritage protection.Taking the architecture of Theravada Buddhism in Pu’er area as the research object,this thesis conducts detailed capital collection and research and mapping through literature combing and fieldwork from the research perspective of multidisciplinary cross-integration,and then focuses on the historical origin,architectural ontology space construction and ethnic culture related content of the Theravada Buddhist architecture in Pu’er area with the help of holistic thinking and typological comparison methods,and comprehensively and systematically summarizes its evolution law,type characteristics and construction and shaping techniques.Studies have shown that the architecture of Theravada Buddhism in Pu’er is in the same vein as Thailand,Myanmar and other source areas,and is obviously directly affected by the Dai temple architecture of Xishuanbanna,but in the specific construction,it not only reflects the construction skills and wisdom of the local Dai people in Pu’er,but also blends and learns from other surrounding ethnic cultures,especially Han culture,in the subsequent historical development process.It is mainly displayed in the different counties,towns and villages in the north and south of the Pu’er area,showing a variety of styles and distinctive hall building types,and its overall and local construction techniques have formed many innovative characteristics.
