Narrative space,as a functional space in architecture that sends out information and transmits information, has an important influence on the temporal experience, logical cognition, contextual feeling and aesthetic resonance of architectural space, etc.People use narrative as a form of communication to make consciousness and behavior related to various spaces and the world as a whole, and narrative as a way of communication can give architectural space entities the ability to "speak Narrative as a form of communication can give architectural space entities the ability to "speak"and expand the rational spatial nature of material space, which carries and expresses the function of use,to a sensual spatial experience that records time, induces events and awakens the resonance of the soul. The narrative in the space of traditional Chinese and Western architecture shines brightly in the long history of past architecture in the process of research.Numerous builders and craftsmen have long appeared in distant antiquity to capture the "soul" of architecture in designing creations, searching for human emotions and thoughts in space. The study of narrative space in traditional Chinese and Western architecture carries the exclusive brand and unique charm given by different nationalities, cultures and regions, which can professionally and popularly help people improve their understanding of modern architectural space from the perspective of literary narrative, optimize the public’s aesthetic experience of space, help architectural space design to better communicate with the outside world, thus improving the spatial readability and spatial This paper will look at the traditional Chinese and Western architectural spaces and their aesthetics. This paper will focus on the spatial narrative composition of the four types of traditional Chinese and Western architectural spaces as the main research object, and use comparative research as the basic research method to explore and analyze the similarities and differences of narrative spatial forms in traditional Chinese and Western architectural spaces. The paper is divided into five chapters, which illustrate the relevance of spatial narrative and narrative space through the background, current situation, scope, purpose and meaning, content and methodology of the study, and argue and summarize the concept, characteristics, nature and spatial types of traditional narrative space by presenting the detailed narrative space in gardens, palaces(palaces),temples and dwellings in Chinese and Western traditional architecture as the main objects of study. In addition, through the comparative analysis of spatial connotation, narrative expression, spatial combination and compositional elements, the design structure and expression of narrative space in traditional architecture are highlighted, and finally, through the findings and summary of the comparative study, the actual needs of modern architectural space for narrative logic and narrative script are reflected, and innovative design thinking and design methods are introduced. The narrative space in the field of architecture represents another way of understanding architecture. The narrative research in traditional architectural space treats architecture as a form of expression of narrative text, and various spatial forms, material structures and other architectural elements are abstracted and extracted as narrative "language" and "symbols"."The "language" and "symbols" are organized in different ways to depict a narrative script with different interactive experiences, and finally present the multiple connotations of architectural space. The traditional gardens, palaces, temples and dwellings in China and the West have great differences in aesthetics, culture, materials and decoration, and the differences originate from various factors. Therefore,it is important to inherit and promote the traditional architectural culture of China and the West, learn to recognize the core of architectural space from more perspectives, learn from the experience and teaching of history, and use the new cognition brought by the analysis and research to enable the future architectural space design to convey ideas and export emotions,so that architects can gain the ability to reconstruct the organization of space, edit the presentation experience of space, and decode the deeper connotation of space.
