Research On Modular Retrofit Design Of Living Space For Physically Disabled People

China has the largest number of disabled people in the world,among which the proportion of physically disabled people is the highest.With the increasing attention of the state to the protection of the rights and interests of people with disabilities and the construction of a livable environment,many policies and regulations to promote the construction of a barrier-free environment have been introduced one after another.As the main living space for people with disabilities,the study of the renovation design of the living space is important for the support and improvement of the quality of life of people with disabilities.On the other hand,people with disabilities have different types and degrees of impairment,and their behavioral characteristics,difficulties and space support needs vary.Through a modular approach to retrofitting,it is possible to respond more flexibly to the differences in retrofitting needs and the scale of existing living spaces.Therefore,this paper aims to propose a modular design proposal for living spaces,focusing on the behavioral characteristics and spatial modification needs of people with different levels of impairment and different types of physical disabilities.The paper selects 21 physically disabled households with different impairment levels,different housing ages and different age groups as the subjects of the survey,and investigates the current situation and problematic points of their living space use through household surveys combined with interviews and spatial scale mapping.From the perspective of the correspondence between behavior and space,the main types of living behaviors such as necessary living behaviors,leisure behaviors and domestic behaviors of physically disabled persons are decomposed,and the behavioral characteristics of physically disabled persons of different types and different levels of impairment and the similarities and differences of their needs for space renovation are analyzed,and then modular design suggestions for the main living spaces such as bedroom space,bathroom space and kitchen space are proposed.In order to provide a basis for the retrofitting design of living spaces for physically disabled people in the future,and to provide a reference for the research on the retrofitting design of living spaces for other types of disabled people.
