In the overall context of urban construction and development shifting from incremental development to inventory renewal,Beijing is continuing to promote the renovation of old residential areas.As an integral part of community construction,public space is an important place closely related to the daily life of residents.At present,there is a significant conflict between the current situation of low-quality construction of public space in old residential areas and the diverse living needs of residents,with a single group of public space users and a lack of vitality.The public space of old residential areas that urgently need to be transformed and should bear the living needs of residents of all ages,thereby promoting interaction and communication among residents of all ages,achieving intergenerational sharing,and enhancing the vitality of the community.Therefore,this article,from the perspective of all age sharing,breaks through the previous focus on only certain age groups such as the elderly and children,and takes the public space of old residential areas in Beijing as the main research object.Through literature research,case analysis,field research,interdisciplinary research,and other methods,it constructs a public space transformation path for old residential areas that meets the needs of residents of all ages.This article first explains the research background,topic sources,research objectives and significance,defines the relevant concepts in this study,selects the research scope and research objects,and summarizes the current research on public space renovation and all age shared residential areas in old residential areas at home and abroad,clarifying the research content,methods,and framework.Then,the article specifically discusses the constituent elements of public space in old residential areas,divides residents into five age groups,and studies their group characteristics and public space needs.At the same time,it is necessary to clarify the feasibility of carrying out public space renovation in old residential areas from the perspective of full age sharing,in order to provide basic support for subsequent research.On this basis,this article takes Xicheng District as the research scope to sort out the development process of its residential areas and the current situation of the preservation of old residential areas.It conducts research and analysis from two aspects: the current situation of the material environment and the current situation of public space use by residents of all age groups.It summarizes that the transportation space in old residential areas is not accessible to all ages,green space cannot be used by all ages,activity space cannot be participated by all ages,and infrastructure cannot be covered by all ages The current situation of management mechanisms being unable to jointly govern and share.In response to the summarized current issues,this article proposes corresponding paths for public space transformation,including sorting out transportation organizations to ensure accessibility for all ages,improving green environments to promote participation for all ages,enriching activity venues to stimulate interaction for all ages,supplementing infrastructure to meet coverage for all ages,and optimizing transformation mechanisms to achieve shared governance.Furthermore,this article takes the public space transformation of Tieluxiang community as an example,and applies the transformation path proposed earlier to design practice to verify its effectiveness.Finally,the article summarizes and reflects on the shortcomings.It is expected to provide reference for the renovation of public space in old residential areas,thereby promoting the construction of livable homes shared by all ages.
