As the crystallization and symbol of human material and spiritual civilization,the relationship between University and city has formed an indissoluble bond from the beginning.As the support and pillar of the University,the city makes up for the deficiency of the internal function of the University;As the cultural center of the city,universities can promote the prosperity and development of the city.In terms of macro planning,the boundary space of the university is gradually separated from the rhythm of urban development;In micro life,the life of University and city depends on the attributes of boundary space.Therefore,how to integrate the relationship between the school and the city at the boundary,guide the potential alienation relationship between the two to the coexistence relationship,and finally establish a harmonious and symbiotic school city relationship has become a big challenge.With the promotion of various waves such as school city integration and school city common prosperity,the concept of school city symbiosis provides a rare opportunity for a new round of urban public space renewal and the sustainable development of school city.This paper studies the University boundary space from the perspective of school city symbiosis.The first chapter first expounds the research background,research purpose and significance,research object and content,and introduces the prospect of school city relationship and the background of the introduction of symbiosis concept.Then it defines the concept of the research and defines the clear research scope,summarizes the research status at home and abroad,analyzes the defects of relevant research,and expounds the research methods and innovation of this paper.Finally,it shows the framework of the paper.The second chapter is the basic research part.Firstly,it combs the development process of the school city relationship at the boundary of Chinese and western universities,then compares the similarities and differences of the school city relationship at the boundary of Chinese and western universities,absorbs the experience worthy of reference,combined with the interpretation of the symbiosis theory,and finally translates the symbiosis from the biological theory to the school city symbiosis relationship,so as to provide the basis and ideas for the later investigation of the University boundary space.The third chapter is the core research part.This paper studies the six symbiotic elements of the University boundary,including the spatial composition of the boundary,the spatial structure of the boundary,the spatial form of the boundary,the spatial function of the boundary and the spatial behavior of the boundary.In terms of composition,the elements of boundary space are divided into two categories: boundary interface and boundary space;In terms of structure,the boundary space is divided into complex structure and simple structure;In terms of form,it is concluded that the University boundary space in Chengdu is mainly divided into four categories: straight type,corner type,zigzag type and parallel type;In terms of function,the combination relationship of boundary space is divided into similar space combination and heterogeneous space combination;Finally,in terms of behavior,it analyzes and sorts out two kinds of behavior in the boundary space: traffic and use,and explores the ways and needs of behavior.After the full investigation of the elements,the characteristics required for the symbiosis of boundary elements and the current situation of boundary space are sorted out and summarized,so as to provide guidance and direction for the renewal strategy.The fourth chapter is the renewal strategy of University boundary space.Firstly,it summarizes and analyzes the renewal principle of boundary space and the dynamic renewal principle dominated by behavior from the perspective of school city symbiosis.Combined with the previous research and analysis,this paper summarizes and sorts out the four strategies and specific methods of boundary space optimization.The strategies include the interface of virtualizing the boundary,the form of softening the boundary,the space connecting the school city,and the function of gathering multiple elements.The fifth chapter is the design practice part.Combined with the renewal strategy of University boundary space in the fourth chapter and the investigation of the characteristics of field symbiotic elements,this paper analyzes the strength of its symbiotic relationship,and updates the boundary space in the southwest section of Xipu campus of Southwest Jiaotong University.
