Science popularization products possess educational and entertaining attributes and offer considerable value to preschool children during their crucial phase of physical and cognitive development. As society and culture continue to progress, the importance of science education and knowledge dissemination for preschool children is growing.Science popularization products for preschool children are currently experiencing new opportunities and challenges. This study draws on the intersection of design, developmental psychology, and other related fields to analyze typical cases of popular science products, establish principles of product design, construct popular science strategies, and design aerospace-themed popular science products to meet the physical and cognitive development needs of children. The ultimate goal of this project is to enhance the innovation, popularization, and interactivity of popular science products, while also improving children’s perception of and interest in aerospace-themed popular science content.Seven chapters make up the structure of this thesis. The first chapter serves as an introduction, outlining the history of the field of study and the condition of science popularization items for preschool children. The objectives and significance of this research are outlined, and the research content and methods are specified, followed by a summary of the innovative aspects of the study. The second chapter is devoted to the state of development and case study analysis of preschool children science products. It categorizes the market’s state of development, forecasts market trends, classifies products, examines current domestic product issues, and offers illustrations of excellent cases.Chapter 3 explores the developmental characteristics and needs of preschool children, highlighting their physical, cognitive, and social development attributes,as well as their physiological and psychological developmental requirements. This chapter investigates how science popularization products can meet these developmental needs, and involves user research and user needs analysis, which collects information on target users’ preferences and needs through a questionnaire survey of parents. It summarizes user needs in order to provide corresponding solutions.Chapter 4 focuses on the principles and strategy construction of preschool children’s science and technology product design. The design principles of children’s science and technology products are demonstrated through examples, and the corresponding science and technology strategy is built.Chapter 5 is the research and strategy of space-themed science popularization products for preschool children, which investigates and analyzes the existing space-themed science popularization products and constructs targeted strategies from three dimensions.Chapter 6 is the practice of preschool children’s science product design, with an aerospace-themed science product serving as the primary case study. It involves designing building blocks and digital assets, integrating augmented reality technology into the interaction process to enhance children’s immersive experience, and inviting children, educational institutions, and aerospace institutions to try out and experience the product. The experience was piloted and experienced by three parties:children, educational institutions, and space agencies.Chapter 7 serves as the concluding remarks, summarizing the design research and research results of this project. The areas for future adjustment and improvement are also listed, along with the shortcomings. |
