With the prosperity of maritime trade, the development of maritime communication technology as the key to maritime transportation has been widely concerned. After years of development, the maritime communication system has gradually developed from a single shore-based system to a complex integration of air, space, earth and sea. There are various types of services, and the service objects have changed from people to various communication devices that do not need human control.Due to the structural complexity and service diversity of maritime communication systems,a universal communication architecture is required to complete complex communication tasks.Io T is limited in power and bandwidth, similarly, the air interface channel spectrum resources for machine-type communication of the Maritime Io T are also limited.Transmitting traditional IP-oriented network packets over the air interface directly will cause excessive header load and reduce the efficiency of data transmission. In order to reduce the air interface header load of the message and adapt to the increasing demand for maritime services, this paper introduces a service-oriented maritime MTC architecture, and its feasibility is verified through network simulation experiments. This paper can be partitioned into two parts. The first half is the theoretical analysis of service-oriented MTC for maritime Io T,the second half is the network simulation implementation of the system, and the experimental verification of solutions for different application scenarios.First of all, this paper starts with the traditional IP-oriented network architecture, its header load and existing solutions and their applicability in maritime MTC scenarios are discussed, which leads to a service-oriented maritime MTC system. Then the maritime MTC architecture is introduced in detail from the three perspectives of system, protocol and network architecture.Aiming at the two common application scenarios of maritime MTC Client-Server and Peer-toPeer,this paper discusses how to interface between maritime MTC network and traditional network, respectively.According to the different composition methods of maritime MTC air interface service-headers,corresponding solutions are proposed, the transmission process of data packets is described in detail, and the packet transmission methods corresponding to solutions in various application scenarios are compared and analyzed. Then, the OMNe T++ network simulation platform and the INET network simulation architecture are briefly introduced.Based on OMNe T++ and INET,the basic simulation topology is built for the two application scenarios, and the key nodes in the simulation topology, the protocol message module of the node, the protocol functional modules are designed and implemented;Based on the basic maritime MTC protocol simulation architecture,a more realistic network simulation topology is built for the two application scenarios, parameters and communication services are configured for the network topology and communication nodes, and the communication process of application data packets is simulated. Finally, the experimental results are qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed from the perspectives of the behavior analysis of the protocol module and the header load analysis, and compared with the theoretical analysis. The experimental results verify the feasibility of replacing IP-oriented addressing with service-oriented addressing.Header load analysis shows that the Serviceoriented maritime MTC architecture reduces the air interface header load of the maritime MTC to a large extent compared to the traditional IP-oriented architecture.
