The Impact Of Intelligent Manufacturing Transformation On Corporate Performance From The Perspective Of Digital Empowerment

In recent years,even though China’s manufacturing industry covers a complete range of production,the overall competitiveness is still far behind the developed countries.The problem of core technology stranglehold has imprisoned China’s manufacturing industry in the middle and low end of the global value chain for a long time,which restricts the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing industry and high-quality economic development.With the new round of scientific and technological revolution,intelligent manufacturing has become a trend of global manufacturing industry,bringing new opportunities for China to transition from manufacturing factory to innovation factory.At present,the domestic construction machinery industry lacks relevant experience in the transformation of intelligent manufacturing.Most construction machinery enterprises are still in the wait-and-see or starting stage of intelligent manufacturing construction,and even some fail.XCMG(XCMG Construction Machinery Co.,Ltd),the leading construction machinery enterprise in China,has made great progress in intelligent transformation.Therefore,it is of significant importance to study the successful experience of XCMG in intelligent manufacturing transformation.Based on organization reform theory,process reengineering theory and value chain theory,this paper takes XCMG as study object and adopts the case study method to discuss the influence of intelligent manufacturing transformation with digital empowerment on enterprise performance.Firstly,the paper introduces the basic information,background,stage and motivation of XCMG’s intelligent transformation.Secondly,the paper focuses on the influence of XCMG’s intelligent transformation on its financial performance(profitability,operation,solvency and development)and non-financial performance(market share,innovation and brand value).Thirdly,we analyse the path of intelligent manufacturing transformation on the above performance from four aspects of R&D,production updating,service optimization and operation improvement.Fourthly,the paper also analyses the existing problems in intelligent transformation and puts forward relevant suggestions.Finally,we summarize the conclusions and enlightenments of the study.Through the study of XCMG’s intelligent manufacturing transformation with digital enablement,we find that the intelligent manufacturing transformation has a significant impact on enterprise’s financial performance and non-financial performance.At the aspect of financial performance,intelligent transformation can improve its profitability,operating and development capacity,while the solvency capacity decreases due to a large amount of capital used for intelligent manufacturing transformation.At the aspect of non-financial performance,the intelligent transformation promotes its market share,innovation output and brand value,creating valuable intangible assets.However,there are still some problems in XCMG’s intelligent transformation,such as core technology bottleneck,shortage of digital talents and weak construction of supply chain.To this end,XCMG should continue strengthening independent innovation,digital talent training and supply chain alliance,stepping forward to the world-class manufacturing enterprises.
