| The urban fringe area is a transition zone between urban and rural areas, and the rough development of the city has brought negative impacts to this space. While the waterfront space of the domestic fringe area in the early days suffered from spatial fragmentation and lack of functions, the current problems mainly focus on the fragmentation of the landscape environment. As an extremely important public space in the city, the waterfront space in the urban fringe area is currently receiving less attention, while in the context of urban renewal, restoration work is urgent. Therefore, this study takes the waterfront space in the urban fringe area as the research object. This paper discusses the basic characteristics of the waterfront space in the fringe area by combining the characteristics of the urban fringe area and the urban waterfront space.First,it is found that the waterfront space in the fringe area differs from the general waterfront space in terms of publicness, functionality, and ecology: the waterfront space in the fringe area is less open, less public, and presents periodic characteristics in terms of use,and the relative advantages and crises in terms of ecological environment coexist;in addition, the waterfront space in the fringe area has certain typological characteristics in terms of morphology, and these characteristics can be described as urban-rural morphology These characteristics can be described as four sets of relationships between urban and rural forms: the "ladder" under the mutual decline of urban and rural forms, the "complexity" under the loop and twist of urban and rural forms, the "contradiction" under the In order to further substantiate the thesis of this paper,we have proposed the followingIn order to further prove the basic characteristics proposed in this paper, the waterfront space in the urban fringe of Ji’an City is introduced as a case study for empirical analysis. The study follows the "gate threshold method" and "spatial superposition method" to delineate the specific scope of the waterfront space in the fringe area, and completes the analysis of the space within the scope. The results of the analysis show that the waterfront space of Ji’an City has the characteristics of "linear transition and highly mixed" in terms of land use types in the coastal area,"closed near the city, open far away" in terms of landscape view, and "contrasting scales and styles" in terms of architectural forms. In the landscape view,it has the characteristics of "close to the city and open to the city","opposing scales and different styles","strong functionality and weak hydrophilicity" in the traffic structure, and "high naturalness and weak hierarchy" in the waterfront elevation. The expansion mode has undergone a change from "water-based to road-based".Taking the basic characteristics and case study findings as the guide, this paper constructs a design path for the environmental renewal of waterfront space in the urban fringe area of Ji’an.Based on the differentiated characteristics, the strategy of"differentiated environmental space" is proposed, and three types of spatial development are envisioned: "nature perception","village perception",and "event Three spatial development modes are envisioned: "nature perception","village perception",and "event perception".The strategy of "environmental softening" is proposed for the characteristics of spatial forms, which strengthens "gradation" and "complexity" while repairing spatial The strategy of "environmental softening" is proposed to strengthen the "gradation" and"complexity" while restoring the "contradiction" of space.Based on these two strategies, this paper then constructs a specific design method system. This paper introduces a design case of a riverine area south of Ganjiang Avenue in Ji’an City to demonstrate the practicality of the design path.In this case, the functional type of the site is repositioned as a "folded space" under the combination of urban, rural and natural landscape.Based on this positioning, the specific design content is discussed. |
