Study On Renovation Of Urban Waterfront Environment

Urban waterfront is the most important open space in city. As more and more attention are paid to water environment, urban waterfront environment design becomes the hot question of urban design. Now many cities are developing renewal of urban waterfront to improve their townscape, image and promote city economy. Based on the spot investigation, the thesis firstly introduces the history and improvement of urban waterfront, Utilizing the theory of urban design, theory of urban renewal, the theory of landscape ecology, the theory of eco-city and theory of relative planning and design. Secondly, it investigates the basic principle, application strategy of urban waterfront design. Thirdly, the thesis analyzes urban elements of urban waterfront, landscape constitute design, and the constitute of urban waterfront space and environment. According to the trends of waterfront renewal of china, the factors that influence the transforming of waterfront and the use of reference to the West waterfront renewal, the thesis introduces strategy of urban waterfront renewal, Based on the view of sustainable development. Last, the case of Suzhou, is taken as example to introduce why and how to choose the dissimilar but suitable strategies in their waterfront urban design, the thesis draws some useful conclusions.
