The natural human settlement represented by Suzhou Classical Gardens used to be the ideal living paradigm of urban residence, but now it is facing the dilemma of decline.Whether from the perspective of historical and cultural inheritance or the dimension of sustainable development in the future,Suzhou classical gardens have important enlightenment to today’s society. In this text, this paper proposes that based on the existing research results of classical gardens, the spatial characteristics of gardens can be systematically sorted out,and combined with contemporary computer space generation technology,a specific and feasible application of garden space generation design may be formed.Firstly, using the methods of case research and data statistics, this paper focuses on the characteristics of the layout and the form of Suzhou classical gardens. Then, through comparison and summary, the core influencing factors of landscape design are extracted and transformed into the generation rules of space system.Afterwards, the visual programming language is used for simulation, and finally the interactive space generation application program is compiled based on the grasshopper programming platform.Based on the generative design method, this study verifies the space generation program in the process of Suzhou Drama Art Museum design, and achieve the garden architecture design result in line with the expression of regional characteristics.Design research not only leads to a feasible path for the inheritance of garden space, but also provides a useful design idea for related contemporary design practice.
