Living In The Cracks:A Study With Specific Example On The Retranslation Of Deteriorating Community’s Crack-Space In The New Library Design

In Tianjin,there are a lot of crack spaces in the old communities in the core city,which will not only remain for a long time,but also serve as a characteristic urban spatial structure,serving as a living inheritance of urban context and life memories.With the development of society and the arrival of a new wave of urban public cultural building construction,how to deal with the relationship between the new building and the urban space of the old community that will not be demolished for a long time will be a new issue in architectural design.It also triggers people’s thinking about what is truly a local and suitable public space for cultural life.Looking back at the contextualist architectural design trends,some of these views are still instructive for today’s architectural design-the urban public space of the old community as the carrier of people’s place memory,if it can be translated into the contemporary community public building design in some way Middle is a kind of inheritance of the urban context.In China’s new five-year plan,Tianjin will be one of the first four major cities with community libraries as an important part of cultural construction,and will be the forefront of the above-mentioned concept and practice.Based on this judgment,this article combines the prospects for the renewal of cultural facilities in old communities in urban construction,and attempts to implement the abstract urban context into the concrete and operable space of interstitial space through the architectural analysis and research on the urban space of Tianjin’s old community.On the carrier,starting from on-site observation records and schematic analysis,taking the characteristic urban spatial form of "gap" as the main clue,discussing the design of new buildings in old communities,and proposing the re-translation of the old characteristic urban spatial structure For the concrete method of the public space in the new buildings of contemporary communities,and to discuss with a project design of a new community library in Tianjin as an example,it is expected to serve as a reference for architects on how to proceed from the perspective of urban space to create architectural creations with humanistic spirit and cultural heritage.It can provide solutions to avoid conflicts between new buildings and old communities during the supporting renewal process of old communities in the cities where people live in the future,and to preserve the integrity of the city’s authenticity and spatial structure.
