| With the increasing rate of ageing in the country and the increasing degree of ageing,it is important that the transport system, which is one of the important components of the urban system, should also make age-appropriate changes.Among the most common modes of travel for older people are walking and public transport, followed by non-motorised transport. The elderly generally choose public transport for long-distance trips, with interchanges between the three on the way, while walking and non-motorised transport are usually used for short and medium-distance trips.By making slow transport age-appropriate,it is conducive to improving the well-being of the elderly. However, the existing slow-moving transport does not fully meet the travel needs of the elderly, and there is still room for improvement in many aspects such as slow-moving space,slow-moving transport facilities and slow-moving environment. Therefore,it is of great significance to study the transport characteristics of the elderly and the condition of the existing slow transport, and to propose a slow transport evaluation system that meets the needs of the Beilin district of Xi’an,in order to optimise the ageing of slow transport.Through a comprehensive compilation of existing literature, combined with relevant theories of slow traffic and further research on existing slow traffic cases abroad, this paper selects objective evaluation indicators of slow traffic with wide applicability, analyses their closeness to the elderly and tentatively determines the evaluation indicators of slow traffic ageing appropriateness. In addition, research was conducted on seven representative road sections in the Beilin District of Xi’an,namely Youyi West Road,Youyi East Road,Tai Bai North Road,South Street-Chang’an North Road,Yanta North Road,East and West sections of Shuncheng South Road, and Kakeyuan Road.On the objective side, the direction of evaluation was summarised by researching the current situation of ageing in the Beilin District;on the subjective side, questionnaires and on-site interviews were conducted with the elderly, and the evaluation system was enriched by combining the competent wishes of the elderly In the subjective aspect, questionnaires and on-site interviews were conducted to enrich the evaluation system by combining the wishes of the elderly. The evaluation system of slow moving traffic was established in five aspects: safety, continuity, convenience, comfort and satisfaction of the elderly. In this paper, the evaluation system is applied to seven representative slow-moving roads in the Beilin District, and the evaluation is carried out to analyse the causes of the problems through the evaluation results of the road sections, and on this basis, practical directions for improvement are proposed.Based on the results of the evaluation,it is suggested that the improvement of the pavement, accessibility, smoothness and resting space of the slow-moving roads in Beilin should be emphasized. Finally, based on the analysis of the evaluation results, suggestions are made for optimising the ageing retrofitting of slow-moving traffic at four levels: safety, continuity, convenience and comfort. |
