Research And Application Of Edible Landscape In The Landscape Regeneration Of Old City Blocks

After the baptism of time,many urban center blocks have been dilapidated,resulting in increasingly prominent living environment problems,such as traffic congestion,dirty environment,lack of leisure space,residents’ privately changing vegetable plots,and alienation of neighbors.These problems have an increasingly serious impact on the daily life of residents in the old city block,which is in huge contrast with the growing material and spiritual needs of residents.At the same time,the rapid urbanization process and the rapid development of the economy have brought enormous pressure on people’s work and life,leading to a pastoral complex of returning to the basics spread among urban residents,making more and more residents conscious of nature and agriculture.generate a strong desire.In this regard,designers need to adopt a new perspective,comprehensively consider the current situation of old city blocks and the material and spiritual pursuits of urban residents,and actively explore new models suitable for landscape renewal of old city blocks.First of all,this paper introduces the design concept of "edible landscape" by systematically and deep analyzing the current situation of the dilapidated landscape of the old city blocks,and discusses how the old city block landscape in Nanjing to achieve a spanning from the 1.0 era to the 3.0 era through summing up and analyzing the successful cases of "edible landscape" design concept in China and abroad.Combining the field investigation and the feasibility analysis of Nanjing old city blocks,this paper puts forward practical design ideas and design methods of "edible landscape" to effectively solve the existing landscape problems in Nanjing old city blocks with taking into accounts of the so-called "inside" and the "face" at the same time,and the unity of modern development and historical protection of the old city block is realized.Then,according to the principles of landscape renewal and protection of old city blocks and local residents’ questionnaires,a set of "small-scale,progressive" humanized design strategies are established,which is expected to realize the sustainable development of Nanjing’s old city blocks.According to the climatic characteristics of Nanjing area,the edible plants suitable for cultivation in Nanjing area are analyzed,and the ornament,health,interest,light,and some other characteristics of these edible plants are systematically studied,aiming to provide a better solution for Nanjing old city blocks and.provide references for plant species during the implementation of "edible landscape".For the later management and operation,the author proposes a top-down operation model for the renewal and protection of diversified neighborhood landscapes in which government departments are managers,relevant public welfare organizations and professional and technical personnel are the guiders,and residents are the actual practitioners.With the "edible landscape" renewal concept of "low cost,high recognition,and controllability",it effectively enhances the landscape of Nanjing’s old city blocks,shapes traditional block culture,enhances residents’ sense of participation and happiness,strengthens neighborhood relationships,and guarantees the Sustainable Development Strategy.Finally,taking Nanjing Hehuatang historical block as an example,the current situation of the block is analyzed,and the design strategy of "edible landscape" is applied to the block landscape update.In line with the people-oriented concept,let the low-key streets and alleys immersed in the old days of Jinling "share" and "active" by integrating the limited resources and scattered land of Nanjing Hehuatang Historic District,optimizing the green area,improving the environment of the district,enhancing the vitality of the district,and revitalizing the culture of the district.The innovation of this paper is the applyment of the ornamental and productive "edible landscape" design concept to the old city blocks of Nanjing with an urgent need of landscape renewal,and close combination of theory and actual situation of field research.According to the current situation of the old city block,the way of planting edible plants is flexibly controlled through vertical modular planting,and the scattered space in the old city block is maximized.Based on the inclusive design of people-oriented and coordinated differences,the edible landscape design is closer to the needs of the residents of the neighborhood,and the culture of the old city neighborhood is active and the environment of the neighborhood is improved.In addition,the design concepts and implementation strategies proposed in this paper can also provide new ideas and broaden new perspectives for the landscape renewal of other old city blocks.
