As modern living standards improve, children’s physical and mental health has always been a major concern for society, and outdoor activities are an important way to maintain children’s physical and mental health. In particular, the number of children aged 3-6 has gradually increased in recent years, and the increase in outdoor activities has created more caregiving burdens for parents, which to a certain extent affects the length of children’s outdoor activities. This study takes wearable navigation products as the research object, and attempts to explore the segmented task setting of navigation products to improve children’s spatial cognitive ability, reduce parents’ caregiving burden and achieve the goal of children’s healthy growth.Currently, most of the wearable products for children in the market are focused on positioning and monitoring, with single functions and fixed forms. Therefore, this paper will take the vast wearable product market as the background, sort out child development theories, explore the real needs of children in outdoor activities, and aim to complete the design of wearable navigation products with educational and interesting features. The paper comprises of two primary segments: theory and practice. In the introductory chapter, the author outlines the current state of research on children’s navigation both domestically and internationally, defines the concept of children’s navigation, and highlights the design objectives and research significance. The second chapter delves into an investigation of wearable navigation products, analyzing the current market status of children’s wearable navigation, comparing relevant product cases both domestically and internationally, thereby setting the course for determining the design direction.Chapter 3 is a study of children aged 3-6 years old, which focuses on the developmental theories of children aged 3-6 years old, summarising their physiological, psychological, social and outdoor activity characteristics and needs. It also uses shadow-following,observation and questionnaire methods to investigate and analyse the behavioural characteristics and navigation tasks of 3-6 year olds in their outdoor activities, from which the needs of children’s wearable navigation product design are summarised, providing the necessary theoretical basis for the design.Chapter4 presents the design methodology, combining the results of the existing research and studies to form a set of design principles and methods suitable for children’s wearable navigation products, which can be used to guide their practical application.Chapter 5is the practical design of the graduation design "Bouncy",which outlines the target user profile and behavioural journey through research and interviews, and designs a set of wearable navigation products with educational and fun features. This study hopes to provide a new perspective on the design of wearable navigation products for children aged 3-6 years old,and to contribute to the spatial awareness education of preschool children in China from a design professional perspective.
