| The rising level of population aging in China brings the development of the research on care facilities, which re-oriented from mainly space design to a balance between environmental performance and space design.Since natural light has an irreplaceable effect on the physical and mental health of the elderly, its importance in the design of care facilities has also accumulated attention from the architects. At present, the daylighting environment of many care facilities for the aged cannot meet the actual needs of the elderly, with much potential for improvement in quality. This thesis looks into the needs and optimization of the care facilities for the aged from the perspective of daylighting in the expectation of improving the quality of its shared space. In order to analyze the problem from the perspective of daylighting, the shared space in the care facilities for the aged is classified into three types based on the demand of natural light: unitary space, multifunctional space and integrated space, with the characteristics summarized respectively.Through the analysis of China’s architectural design standards and care facilities design projects, the status quo of daylighting in the shared space of care facilities for the aged is summarized,on which basis the design requirement of daylighting in the 3 types of shared spaces are analyzed to form the design goals. To solve the problem, daylighting simulation is introduced to analyze the daylighting strategy in the early-stage design.Accordingly, the daylighting strategy is modified according to the needs of the aged and other aspects of design to form a comprehensive design strategy for the 3 types of shared space in care facilities for the aged. Finally, the comprehensive design strategy, combined with the daylighting simulation analysis,is introduced in the design practice of care facilities. The result indicates the effectiveness of the strategies to significantly improve the quality of daylighting environment in the elderly’s living space.Combining theoretical research and practice, qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, this thesis adapts and transforms conventional daylighting strategies based on the actual needs of the shared space in the care facilities for the aged, and applying them to the early stage of architecture design. It enriches the design theory of the care facilities architecture design, and has practical significance for the architects in the realization of shared space of high-quality care facilities. |
