Research On Evaluation And Renewal Strategy Of Community Public Space In Suzhou City Under The Guidance Of Child-friendliness

As China enters the stage of high-quality development with the main focus on improving urban quality,urban residents have higher requirements and concerns about the quality of their living environment,and urban renewal is one of the important ways to achieve high-quality urban development.At the same time,with the introduction of a new round of childbirth policy,the contradiction between supply and demand of "child-friendly" public space in urban communities has become more and more prominent.As a basic unit of urban construction and governance,the community is an important foundation for the construction of child-friendly cities,and further research is needed to understand the connection between the connotation of child-friendliness and the renewal system of community public space.In view of this,this paper analyzes the current problems and spatial characteristics of different types of urban community public spaces from a child-friendly perspective,and explores renewal strategies that can effectively improve the childfriendliness of urban community public spaces,with a view to providing new solutions for community-level renewal practices.Firstly,through analyzing the characteristics of child-friendly community public spaces and selecting a scientific and reasonable evaluation method for child-friendliness of urban community public spaces,the evaluation indexes of child-friendliness of urban community public spaces are selected by combing the relevant literature and practice of child-friendly communities at home and abroad with the support of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory,environmental behavior theory and child behavior psychology.The evaluation model of child-friendliness of public space in urban communities was constructed by determining the weights of indicators through hierarchical analysis.Second,based on the construction profiles of different types of urban communities,eight typical urban communities in Suzhou were selected from four types of urban communities: traditional street communities,public housing communities,commercial housing communities,and socially marginalized communities,and research data were obtained by random questionnaires,field surveys,and web crawling.The following characteristics of the child-friendliness of community public spaces in Suzhou were found:the overall child-friendliness is average;different community types,urban development stages and other factors may cause some variability in the child-friendliness of urban community public spaces.Finally,based on the evaluation results of child-friendliness and the goals and principles of renewal,we propose the following renewal strategies to improve the child-friendliness of urban community public spaces: in terms of play space,it is recommended to build a play network combining points and lines;in terms of access space,it is recommended to create safe and continuous trails for children;in terms of natural space,it is recommended to create sustainable natural landscapes;in terms of management,it is recommended to use children’s participation as a link to establish a benevolent relationship with children.At the management level,it is recommended to establish a benign win-win management mechanism with children’s participation as the link.
