With the intensification of social aging process and the rapid development of the elderly market, the demand of elderly for walking aid products is increasing day by day.For the elderly in the semi-disabled stage of life, wheelchairs are necessities for their daily travel. The existing wheelchairs for the elderly are simple in shape, single in function and insufficient in suitability, which are difficult to meet the daily use. There are two main reasons for these problems: First, the elderly product market is still in its infancy, and the design of related products is still drawing on the same type of foreign products and products for the disabled, and the degree of innovation is insufficient.Second, the way of user’s needs is obtained singly, and the design process mainly relies on the designer’s own experience and lacks scientific theoretical guidance.Starting from the needs of elderly mobility wheelchair users, the entire process of transforming user needs into product functions is focused in this work and mainly as follows:First of all, through the analysis of the research status and development trend of walking aid products for the elderly, the shortcomings of the existing research are found, and the breakthrough point of walking aid product design for the elderly is found out.Secondly, through reading and combing the literature related to Kano model,QFD theory and TRIZ theory, the demand-function integrated model is constructed, which is divided into four stages:Demand acquisition stage: from the perspective of users, designers and products, comprehensively obtain user needs by using interview method, observation method, product life cycle judgment, patent name collection and analysis,e-commerce platform negative evaluation collection and analysis and other methods.Demand analysis stage: the Kano model is used to analyze the obtained user demand, and the user demand importance adjustment coefficient K is introduced to calculate the final importance of each user demand.Demand transformation stage: the QFD theory is used to convert user needs into product technical features required for design, and the importance order of each technical feature is determined according to the importance of user needs and the correlation coefficient S between user needs and product technical features,so as to provide guidance for subsequent design practice.Conflict resolution stage between technical features: the conflicting technical characteristics are converted into general engineering parameters of TRIZ and the contradiction matrix are consulted to find suitable solutions, which are applied to specific design practices. Finally, according to the transformation results of the demand-function integrated model and the size of the elderly man-machine,the design of the wheelchair for aging is completed, and the validity of the demand-function integrated model is verified through the evaluation of the design. In this work, the entire process of design and research are enriched and the aging suitability of the elderly wheelchair in terms of product shape, size, function, control method and others are improved through the construction of the demand-function integrated model. In addition,it is verified by design that the demand-function integrated model can effectively guide designers to transform user needs into product functions, which provides a reference for user demand-oriented product design.
