Due to China’s "coal-rich,oil-poor,gas-poor" energy structure,the power industry is still dominated by fossil energy,the consumption of fossil energy makes the environment increase in carbon dioxide emissions,resulting in the greenhouse effect,sea level rise and a series of environmental problems,and the power industry produces the largest proportion of carbon dioxide in the entire industry.Therefore,it is important to explore the factor decomposition of carbon emissions in the power industry and its emission reduction mechanism to enrich the research on the path theory and mechanism of carbon emission reduction in the power industry.In this thesis,we firstly sort out the literature related to energy carbon emission,and study and define the relevant theories and concepts,and then analyze the current situation of the development of carbon emission in the power industry.Then,based on the achievements of China’s power industry so far,relevant indicators are extracted from different perspectives as the basis for decomposition of carbon emission changes in the power industry,and the LMDI(Logarithmic Mean Dichotomous Index)method is used to empirically analyze the carbon emissions of the power industry in China from 2002 to 2021,and the results show that the energy conversion efficiency of thermal power generation,power structure,electricity generation and consumption ratio and electricity consumption intensity all contribute to carbon emission reduction in the power industry to different degrees,among which thermal power generation energy conversion efficiency and electricity consumption intensity have the largest contribution,and economic growth is the main contributor to carbon emission in the power industry.By analyzing the decomposition results of carbon emissions in the power industry,it is concluded that economic development and technological progress are the two major influencing factors affecting carbon emissions in the power industry.Then this thesis designs a structural equation model with economic development,technological progress,emission reduction policy,energy consumption and carbon emission in the power industry as latent variables by PLS-SEM(partial least squares structural equation modeling)method in the context of carbon emission reduction policy implementation in the power industry,and conducts an empirical study on the mechanism of action and influence path of carbon emission influencing factors in the power industry.The results show that carbon emission reduction policies in the power industry have a direct negative inhibitory effect on carbon emissions;moreover,carbon emission reduction policies can also inhibit carbon emissions in the power industry through technological progress.Finally,based on the above empirical research,this thesis composes and analyzes the research results,summarizes the main conclusions and puts forward corresponding policy suggestions for carbon emission reduction in China’s power industry from the perspective of key influencing factors.
