Miao embroidery patterns have a lot of charm that cannot be expressed by words. In addition to being very decorative in the sense of form, the more profound is its internal connection with ethnic history. The Miao people have no writing, and their dress patterns are another form of writing carrier preserved in the history of the Miao people. The women’s costumes in the thousand-household Miao village in Xijiang are such a "voluminous historical book".The magnificent, crude and primitive embroidery patterns record the migration course, ancestral beliefs, myths and legends of this ethnic group like words. Those distant cultural memories are painted by the industrious and intelligent women of Xijiang with their skillful hands and exquisite techniques. The Miao people of Xijiang demonstrate their thousands of years of historical deposits to the world in the form of "pattern".Xijiang Miao Village is located in Qingshuijiang River Basin and Duliujiang River basin with Leigong foothills as the main peak of Miaoling. It is the largest Miao ethnic community in China.Xijiang Miao Village residents have been living on fishing and hunting economy and farming economy for generations,so their clothing embroidery patterns are mostly based on birds, animals, insects and fish, flowers and fruits.Common patterns include dragon, bird, fish, maple leaf, butterfly, and geometry. These patterns are not all objective objects in nature, but to a certain extent inherited the original artistic content of the ancient ancestors, and are the natural images of the deity, flashing with attractive primitive artistic luster. In addition, from the perspective of astronomical archaeology and iconography, scholar Ah Cheng has made a breakthrough in the demonstration that Miao ethnic group’s ornamentation is derived from ancient astrology, and these star-related ornamentation patterns are common in female costumes of Xijiang Miao Village, which is extremely rare in other branches of the Miao ethnic group and even in other ethnic costumes."Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village" is also known as "Xijiang Miao Village".In 2008,the government named the tourism space "Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village" in order to facilitate the follow-up tourism development management and external publicity.Due to the richness, completeness and systematization of regional culture,it has been an important field for many scholars to study the protection of ethnic cultural resources since tourism development. The author focuses on the female costume embroidery pattern culture in Xijiang Miao Village, and finds that the ancient culture presents different living states in the space of "indigenous people and tourists" in the field research. The traditional ethnic aesthetic and cultural memory of the former still have tenacious vitality; The latter gradually adapt to the commercial demand, with the help of tourism development and the Internet information age radiates a strong momentum of development. The different forms of cultural development in the space of the two groups let us see the strong vitality of Miao culture.Thinking about the source of its vitality and development may be an important answer to the current protection of cultural heritage resources. This thesis is mainly divided into five chapters: introduction, overview of Miao ethnic group clothing, interpretation of Xijiang Miao Village women’s costume embroidery patterns, art research of Xijiang Miao Village women’s costume embroidery patterns, protection and development of Xijiang Miao Village women’s costume embroidery patterns. The first chapter women’s dress embroidery patterns in Xijiang, and on the basis of a comprehensive case study,to achieve the answer to the current development and protection of Miao culture.
