The mulam ethnic group is a small mountain ethnic group with a population in our co untry.At first,the Mulam ethnic woman uses to maintain a livelihood and the family’s sk ill.Today,the Mulam ethnic.embroidery is mainly used to decorate suspender cores,clot hes,hats or other handicrafts.In this paper,by referring to literature and field visits,I hav e a further understanding of the Mulam ethnic minority’s traditional embroidery pattern c haracteristics and ways.In order to better inherit and develop Mulam ethnic embroidery,this paper explores the Mulam ethnic embroidery by integrating it with modern clothing.The Mulam ethnic minority’s traditional embroidery with profound cultural connotation a nd artistic aesthetic value can be recognized by more people,SO as to stimulate people’s desire to explore the Mulam ethnic minority’s embroidery and generate a strong interest i n it.In this paper,the traditional.embroidery of the Mulam ethnic group is the core resear ch direction,and the innovation and application of the traditional embroidery of the Mula m ethnic group is the main content of design,and the traditional embroidery craft and mo dern costume design are combined to design a modern costume design work with traditio nal cultural connotation.The main research methods include field investigation,literature research,comprehensive induction research and practice research.This paper is mainly divided into three parts: firstly,the characteristics of Mulam ethnic minority traditional embroidery are analyzed from the aspects of the development history,modeling characteristics and basic stitch method of Mulam ethnic minority embroidery;secondly,the adaptability of Mulam ethnic embroidery and modern clothing is sought from culture and technology,and typical patterns and colors are extracted,which paves the way for subsequent design practice.Finally,on the basis of the above theories and real objects,the design practice activities are launched.Firstly,according to a specific combination way,the Mulam ethnic embroidery patterns are broken and reorganized,and its key colors are extracted.Finally,a series of effect pictures of clothing are designed,with the theme of "Chuoyue".This research provides theoretical basis and case reference for the application of Mu lam ethnic traditional embroidery patterns in modern clothing design to a certain extent,a nd also enables the author to accumulate a lot of experience.The author realizes the key of heritage and protection of traditional handicraft,whichshould be considered from the p erspective of development,constantly blend with modern culture and foreign culture,and reflect the cultural connotation and aesthetic characteristics of the ethnic group.The visual ele ments embody the cultural connotation of ethnic costumes and highlight the ethnic char acteristics.However,due to the limitation of its own professional ability,there are still m any shortcomings in the innovative application of traditional embroidery patterns in mod ern clothing design,such as the expression forms and innovative techniques need to be fu rther improved,and the expression of many contents is a little insufficient.In the future,I will keep studying so as to further perfect the research of this topic and better apply the t raditional embroidery of Mulam ethnic minority on clothing.So as to achieve the purpos e of inheriting and developing ethnic culture better.
