The Yao ethnic group is one of the ethnic minorities in China, with a relatively small branch called the Daban Yao,which is distributed along the Sino Vietnamese border in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. In this paper, the literature analysis method and field research method are used to study the clothing of the big plate Yao in Fangcheng Cave. The Daban Yao is named after her woman wearing a tall red board hat,and the traditional clothing of the Daban Yao in Fangcheng Cave is mainly cotton cloth,The technique of clothing embroidery is based on black or blue-black cloth blocks, embroidered with red, green, yellow, white and other silk threads, with a unique cross stitch on the back. The clothing patterns are concentrated in the hat, chest, back, belt, trouser legs, skirt hem,and other areas. The shape, color, and decorative features of Daban Yao clothing are very distinct, with local cultural characteristics. The costumes of the Dongzhong Daban Yao people have different wearing customs in rituals, weddings, funerals, and holiday occasions. The costumes of the Dongzhong Daban Yao people have cultural connotations such as social role identification, expression of thoughts and emotions, reflection of historical memory, and reflection of ethnic identity. With the change of life style and aesthetic concept of Daban Yao people, there is no successor to the inheritance of Daban Yao costumes, and the culture of Daban Yao costumes gradually fades away. Therefore,it is necessary to enhance the pride of inheriting traditional costumes, maintain the core production skills, and promote the inheritance and development of Daban Yao costumes in strengthening the Chinese cultural identity.
