Culture is crucial for achieving national strength and ethnic revival.With the accelerating process of globalization,the economic,political,and cultural connections between different countries are increasingly close,and traditional Chinese culture has faced significant challenges and impacts.Inheriting and promoting excellent traditional culture,enhancing the influence of Chinese culture and people’s cultural identity have become important guidelines and guiding principles for the government in promoting cultural construction and the development of cultural industries in recent years.As an important driving force for future national development,students carry the hope of the motherland’s future and have an important responsibility to inherit and develop the unique cultural characteristics of our nation.Therefore,cultivating the cultural identity of primary and secondary school students is conducive to developing their noble sentiments and deep national emotions,enabling them to have a firm stance and confident attitude when facing cultural impacts.School uniforms are a symbol of student identity and an important carrier of the school’s image.School uniforms demonstrate a country’s degree of emphasis on education,as well as its cultural heritage and level of education.Incorporating excellent and unique traditional cultural elements into school uniform design is not only a continuation and promotion of traditional culture,but also an important means of cultivating students’ cultural identity and demonstrating national cultural confidence and strength.Regional cultural characteristics are cultural phenomena and values that are formed within a specific region and represent the cultural features of that region.Therefore,studying regional cultural characteristics is of great significance for protecting and inheriting local cultural heritage,promoting cultural exchange,and enhancing cultural soft power.Incorporating regional cultural characteristics into school uniforms can provide new perspectives and inspirations for their design,which can enhance the influence and confidence of Chinese culture,better promote cultural construction and cultural industry development,and achieve national strength and national rejuvenation.This research focuses on the method of designing school uniforms with regional cultural characteristics and conducts specific research.Using the literature research method,relevant literature and book materials were consulted to learn about the design of school uniforms in different regions,schools,and time periods,as well as their historical evolution and current status.A systematic overview of regional cultural characteristics and school uniform design theory was provided,including the definition of school uniforms and regional cultural characteristics,as well as the characteristics and categories of school uniforms.The overall situation of the domestic school uniform industry was described,and three excellent school uniform brand cases were analyzed to identify common misconceptions and avoidance strategies.Using case analysis,the design of school uniforms with regional cultural characteristics in different regions and time periods was analyzed to provide inspiration and direction for design.A focus group was organized to invite experts and users to discuss their views,needs,and expectations regarding school uniform design,in order to establish a system of elements for designing school uniforms with regional cultural characteristics.Five innovative methods for designing school uniforms with regional cultural characteristics were proposed,and design principles and paradigms were established.The theory was applied to practice to verify its feasibility,with participation in a school-enterprise cooperation practice providing data support and practical experience.Schools were visited to understand the school environment,atmosphere,and cultural characteristics,and to obtain users’ feedback and improvement suggestions regarding the current school uniform design.Data collection and on-site research were conducted in Suzhou to extract Suzhou’s characteristic cultural elements and apply the method of designing school uniforms with regional cultural characteristics to two series of design practices.Finally,the problems and deficiencies encountered in this research were summarized,aiming to provide direction for future school uniform design.
