As a participant in construction activities,the carbon emissions generated by construction enterprises cannot be underestimated,and how to achieve carbon neutrality in production and operation has become a key issue.In the context of the digital economy,digital transformation has brought new development potential to the production and operation activities of construction enterprises and is an important way for construction enterprises to develop sustainably.Therefore,it’s become the concern of this thesis to analyse the role of digital transformation of construction enterprises on the carbon neutrality of enterprises.This thesis collates the concepts and dimensional divisions of digital transformation,low-carbon management and carbon neutrality in construction enterprises through literature survey;constructs a theoretical model between digital transformation and carbon neutrality in construction enterprises based on the resourcebased view,low-carbon theory and institutional theory,explores the role of low-carbon management and institutional pressure,and puts forward the research hypotheses.Afterwards,by reviewing relevant literature and combining the characteristics of construction enterprises,the initial measurement items of digital transformation,low carbon management,carbon neutrality and institutional pressure were compiled,and then expert interviews were conducted and expert opinions were integrated to modify and supplement the measurement items identified by the literature research,so as to form the initial measurement items of each latent variable and compile the pre-survey questionnaire.The valid questionnaires collected in the formal research phase were analysed using multivariate statistical analysis and partial least squares structural equation modelling,and the Smart PLS software was used to examine the impact of digital transformation on carbon neutrality and the mediating role of low carbon management and the moderating role of institutional pressure on construction enterprises.Then,a fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis method is used to propose a combination of pathways for the impact of digital transformation on carbon neutrality in construction enterprises.The main conclusions of this thesis are as follows:(1)digital transformation of construction enterprises is the main influencing factor of enterprise carbon neutrality,among which digital technology has the most important role in influencing carbon neutrality and also has better performance in promoting enterprise carbon neutrality;(2)low carbon management has a partly mediating role between digital transformation of construction enterprises and enterprise carbon neutrality;that is,the achievement of carbon neutrality of construction enterprises not only thanks to digital technology to reduce carbon emissions from construction activities and develop carbon trading strategies,but also thanks to the low-carbon management model adopted by construction enterprises in their construction activities;(3)institutional pressure has a negative moderating effect between digital transformation of construction enterprises and enterprise carbon neutrality,i.e.under higher institutional pressure,some financial compensation should be considered to increase the incentive for construction enterprises to achieve carbon neutrality.This thesis explores the relationship between digital transformation and carbon neutrality in construction enterprises in the context of the dual carbon target and the digital economy,enriching the current research on carbon neutrality in enterprises;at the same time,the research on digital transformation in this thesis can provide a certain degree of theoretical guidance for construction enterprises to carry out digital transformation.This thesis has 6 figures,43 tables and 205 references.
