Research On Traditional Costumes Of Sichuan Opera Wen Xiaosheng

As a treasure of Chinese traditional culture and a local opera born in the land of Bashu,Chuan Opera has enriched the system of Chinese traditional opera art with its unique vocal libretto,exquisite stage performance and gorgeous stage art.It also embodies the charm of Bashu regional culture.As an important part of stage art,Sichuan opera traditional costume is an external display of Sichuan opera style and plays an irreplaceable role in character shaping.Wen Xiaosheng,as an important branch of Xiaosheng,one of the five major industries of Sichuan Opera,occupies an important position in Sichuan Opera and even Chinese traditional drama performance with his exquisite and unique performance and skills.In addition to the diligent practice of actors,he also benefits from the cooperation of costumes.Therefore,it is of theoretical and practical significance to study the traditional costumes of Wen Xiaosheng in Sichuan Opera.During the research period,the author collected and sorted out the relevant literature,and conducted field investigations in Sichuan Opera Theatre,Chongqing Sichuan Opera Theatre,Tongnan Sichuan Opera Association,Chongqing Sichuan Opera Museum and Chengdu Changzhou Opera Dress.The relevant content of the traditional costumes of Sichuan opera students was recorded and sorted out by pictures,videos and oral materials.In this process,the following problems were found :(1)The research on the costumes of Sichuan opera in the related research of Sichuan opera is not high,and the research on the costumes of Sichuan opera mostly stays in the combing of a single type of costumes and the simple discussion and analysis of their characteristics,lack of more in-depth research;(2)Although the Sichuan-Chongqing region is the birthplace of Sichuan opera,the public ’s attention to it is not high,and the audience group shows a clear trend of aging.Most people ’s understanding of Sichuan opera is limited to facial makeup and stunts such as face changing and spit fire.As the development space of Sichuan opera has been squeezed,most of the folk and local troupes have long disintegrated.The current situation of the local troupes or drama associations that have been retained is that there are fewer actors,older age,and fewer performances.The troupe ’s costumes are also maintained in their original state,with no new installation requirements.On the other hand,the well-developed big troupes tend to go to Jiangsu and Zhejiang to buy costumes,and the relevant manufacturers often design and produce costumes for Beijing Opera,Yue Opera,Sichuan Opera and other operas at the same time,which not only leads to the increasing homogenization of opera costumes,but also further makes the operation of Sichuan and Chongqing opera costume factories depressed,and the traditional Sichuan opera costume production skills face the risk of loss.On the basis of studying the history,genre,line and singing of Sichuan opera,this paper first summarizes the classification and characteristics of Wen Xiaosheng ’s line.Then,the main types of Wen Xiaosheng ’s traditional costumes are summarized from three aspects : headwear,bodywear and footwear.It is concluded that there are 8 kinds of traditional headwear,6 kinds of traditional bodywear and 2 kinds of traditional footwear.Then,from the aspects of style,color,pattern and material,the elements of these costumes are analyzed in depth to explore the characteristics of traditional costumes of Sichuan opera.On this basis,the stylized clues in Wen Xiaosheng ’s traditional costumes are sorted out.At the same time,the relationship between Wen Xiaosheng ’s practice and Wen Xiaosheng ’s traditional costumes is systematically analyzed through specific cases,and its functionality and decorative characteristics are further explored.At present,there are few studies on the traditional costumes of Sichuan opera,and the research on the traditional costumes of Wen Xiaosheng is still relatively blank.On the one hand,this study can play a role in filling the lack of basic research on the traditional costumes of Sichuan opera to a certain extent.On the other hand,it can also contribute to the promotion and inheritance of the traditional costume culture and handicraft of Sichuan opera to a certain extent,and can provide some ideas for the future costume design of Sichuan opera.
