A Study Of The Artistic Characteristics Of Jiangxi Nuo Opera Masks And Their Application In Modern Clothing

Nuo culture has a history of several thousand years and is one of the oldest cultures in the world.It combines folk customs,religion,and art,and is the most primitive carrier of spiritual civilization in human history.Jiangxi is a key province for Nuo culture in China,with obvious regional and ethnic characteristics.After thousands of years of accumulation and inheritance,it has formed unique artistic features.Jiangxi still retains original Nuo opera and Nuo masks,which come in various types and levels.Nuo masks play an important role in Nuo rituals,dances,and customs,and occupy a prominent position in Nuo culture.In response to the new situation of protecting and inheriting intangible cultural heritage in China,this study takes Jiangxi Nuo culture as the research starting point and Nuo masks as the research object,analyzing and researching them to extract elements that can be used in clothing design.These elements are then creatively applied to modern clothing,promoting the development of traditional art.This article focuses on Jiangxi Nuo masks,conducting research through methods such as literature review,field research on museums in major Nuo opera areas in Jiangxi,and interviews with Nuo heritage inheritors.Through inductive analysis,the artistic features and aesthetic characteristics of Nuo masks in terms of shape,color,pattern,and function were summarized.Using analogical methods,feasible methods for applying Nuo mask elements to modern clothing design were explored by studying the application of other intangible cultural heritage in modern clothing design.Finally,through practical application,elements of Jiangxi Nuo masks that can be used in modern clothing design were extracted and creatively designed and applied in line with current clothing trends,making the clothing both traditional and fashionable.This approach provides a sustainable path for the better inheritance and innovation of Jiangxi Nuo culture.Under the background of insufficient protection and inheritance Under the background of insufficient protection and inheritance of Nuo culture,exploring the innovative application of Nuo cultural elements to modern clothing and other cultural derivatives is also an effective way to protect and inherit Nuo culture.
