As China’s economy is moving towards a stage of high-quality development,the quality of large-diameter seamless steel tubes is becoming more and more demanding,and the traditional production method can no longer meet the current high-quality development requirements,and some high-quality large-diameter seamless steel tubes used in extreme environments are still obtained by means of imports from abroad.In order to break this shackle and produce higher quality large diameter seamless steel tubes independently,this paper proposes the use of tension reduction to produce large diameter seamless steel tubes.However,the existing tension reduction machines are mainly for small and medium diameter steel pipes,and the rolling of large diameter seamless steel pipes is still in the exploration and research stage.Therefore,it is important to study the deformation characteristics and forming laws of large diameter seamless steel pipes in the process of tension reduction,and to master the tension reduction hole design method and software development for the production of high quality large diameter seamless steel pipes with theoretical guidance.The main research findings of this paper are as follows:(1)Basis on combining the existing tension reduction technology at home and abroad,the tension reduction deformation process of large-diameter seamless steel pipe is analyzed theoretically,and the calculation model of tension diameter reduction machine hole pattern is established basis on studying the deformation characteristics of large-diameter steel pipe.(2)Using the large-scale finite element analysis software ABAQUS,the tension reduction process in which a barren pipe of Φ820mm×55mm is reduced to Φ406mm×50mm by 18 tension reduction units,and the flow of metal,the stress-strain distribution and the change of temperature field during the deformation process are analyzed most intuitively.The simulation results show that the simulated metal flow,stress-strain distribution in the deformation zone,and the change of rolling force are the same as the deformation of steel pipe in the actual rolling process,which also verifies the feasibility of using a tension reduction machine to produce large diameter seamless steel pipe and proves that the hole design is reasonable and applicable.(3)Based on MATLAB GUI,we have developed a software for hole design and process parameter calculation of large diameter steel pipe tension reduction machine,which reduces the complexity of hole design and greatly shortens the development cycle of large diameter steel pipe,which is very important reference for future manufacturers to carry out actual production.
