Large diameter steel pipe,which is an important component in industry,has already extensively applied to transportation of petroleum and natural gas;therefore,welding safety of tubes is the most crucial guarantee for production safety and operation safety.As a result,accurately measuring geometrical parameter of steel tubes has already become a sort of research emphasis across the whole world.Currently,contact measurement and non-contact measurement are mainly methods on tube measurement.The majority method tube mills adopt in China is Contact Method,which could calculate tubes' ovality with measuring rod,caliber ruler and some other measuring tools,and measure out tubes' perimeters and some other geometrical data with tapes;however,not only it is technically influenced by human operation and measure error,but a low measuring precision,high labor intensity,and slow information feedback would not be able to achieve enterprises'needs,which is "Mechanical assembly,high speed,and multi-position",to accurately and timely measure and automatically store and output data.This paper is to dedicate on making up the shortage of contact method,and specially build a non-contact measurement program which is based on laser triangulation;moreover,making a feasibility test and error analysis could draw a preliminary result.Secondly,traversing whole circle of tubes' end through laser displacement sensor,which is driven by rotating mechanism,to upload data to upper computer and convert it into polar radius value.Thirdly,obtain all geometric parameters through least squares fit and data processing.Theoretical error analysis and simulation,system calibration,program interface,function design and data analysis are core modules for this paper.Overall errors,which is constituted by each error term,could technically fit industrial fields' need;moreover,uses Delphi to accomplish interface cdesign and each function design,and least squazre method to match measuring result could obtain a rough sketch and geometric parameters.The results,which is from industrial field.indicate that measurement accuracy of system we created could achieve standard requirements for industrial field;therefore,the project,which has simple construction,high efficiency,and high measurement accuracy features,will fit geometric parameter test of large diameter steel pipe industrial field.
