| Traditional Chinese furniture,represented by Ming style furniture,contains excellent design ideas and has provided inspiration and continuous inspiration to Western designers as early as the early 20 th century.It is also the cultural foundation and original driving force of modern Chinese designers.However,the scarcity of physical remains of furniture before the Ming Dynasty is not conducive to the systematic research of traditional furniture design.Therefore,the images of ancient furniture that appear in paintings,literature illustrations,murals,etc.have shown high research value.As a part of traditional furniture relics,the furniture images in Dunhuang murals run through the Wei,Jin,Southern and Northern Dynasties to the Yuan Dynasty,reflecting the living habits,ethnic culture,production conditions,and creative thinking of ancient people at various stages.They contain rich design ideas,and a systematic analysis of them will provide important supplements for the theoretical research of traditional furniture.Based on the perspective of design,this paper uses Morris semiotics to carry out a systematic study of the desk furniture in Dunhuang murals from the perspective of morphology,semantics and pragmatics.The article extracts the form,color,and decorative language symbols of furniture from the perspective of morphology;Interpreting the connotations of etiquette,aesthetics,concepts,and emotions contained in linguistic symbols from a semantic perspective;From the perspective of pragmatics,this paper analyzes how the interpreter of signs applies the linguistic signs of furniture in the relationship between "people and furniture" and "situation and furniture".The three-dimensional analysis combining form,semantics and pragmatics involves the form,content and experience of artifacts,which is different from the unilateral analysis of other semiotics that only focuses on the form or content of abstract entities,which is conducive to the systematic study of design ideas in mural furniture.Through the research and analysis of Morris semiotics,the innovative design principles and design processes of Dunhuang mural table furniture were constructed.At the end of the article,the practice of innovative design was carried out by taking the kunmen as an example,adopting modern design methods and combining modern life needs.The research in this article is beneficial for Chinese designers to conduct research on the reuse and redesign of Dunhuang mural furniture resources,thereby expanding a new approach for theoretical research and practical application of traditional furniture modernization design research. |
