| As an important support of China’s economic growth,energy consumption plays an irreplaceable role in social progress and economic civilization development.However,with the increase of energy consumption,the contradiction between energy supply and demand is becoming evident,and the problems of ecological environment pollution are more and more serious.At present,China’s social and economic development is transforming into a green development mode in all respects,and improving green energy efficiency is a key component of this transformation.Therefore,this study on the differences and influencing factors of China’s provincial green energy efficiency has important guiding significance for improving the utilization rate of green energy,solving the environmental pollution caused by energy and building a "green development" society.Using panel data of 2011–2019,this paper calculates China’s provincial green energy efficiency and analyzes the factors.First,this paper sorted out domestic and foreign studies on the measurement methods and factors of green energy efficiency and determined the research content.Then,based on the construction of a complete index system of undesirable outputs,this paper adopts Super-SBM method to measure the green energy efficiencies of China’s provinces,and analyzes them from the perspectives of time series and spatial differences.Next,this paper takes green energy efficiency as the explained variable,and comprehensively selects eight indicators as explanatory variables,including technological progress,economic development level,energy consumption structure,industrial structure,urbanization level,environmental regulation,government intervention and foreign trade dependence.Finally,based on the results of calculation and factor analysis,this paper puts forward corresponding suggestions to balance the national green development from three perspectives: the difference of green development in different provinces,the influence degree of explanatory variables,and how to improve green energy efficiencies in low-efficiency regions.The empirical analysis draws the following conclusions: Firstly,China’s annual mean green energy efficiency presents a steady decreasing trend,and green energy efficiencies among China’s four major regions is uneven.Generally,the mean level is east > mean > northeast > west > central.Secondly,the green energy efficiency of each province has a significant positive correlation but has great difference.Provinces with low green energy efficiency tend to geographically gather in the regions with rich energy resource endowm ent.Instead,provinces with high green energy efficiency are relatively geographically scattered,and most of them are China’s developed regions.Thirdly,industrial structure,urbanization level,technological progress,economic development level and government intervention play a role in promoting the improvement of green energy efficiency.The energy consumption structure,foreign trade dependence and environmental regulation play a restraining role.Therefore,the key policy directions to improve China’s green energy efficiency include using transfer payment to balance the regional development,breaking down the barriers among provinces to facilitate energy circulation,and improving urbanization level,and reducing the foreign trade dependence. |
