Interference fit riveting technology occupies a very important position in modern aircraft manufacturing and is still an important assembly connection technology that must be used in aircraft manufacturing.The quality of interfering riveted joints directly affects the strength and life of the aircraft and is a key and difficult aspect of aircraft manufacturing technology.In order to ensure the long life,high reliability,air and oil tightness of aircraft,and to achieve the lightweight goal of aircraft manufacturing,it is important to study the relationship between the influence of interference fit riveting process parameters on riveting quality.This paper uses theoretical analysis,numerical simulation and experimental research to investigate the deformation mechanism and riveting quality of interference fit riveting,with the aim of investigating the influence of process parameters on riveting quality and obtaining the optimum set of process parameters.The research work in this paper includes:(1)Dividing the interference fit riveting process into four stages,simplifying the header forming process into a cylindrical free header,establishing a theoretical model of header forming in interference fit riveting,deriving a calculation formula for the compression riveting force in interference fit riveting,establishing a relationship between the amount of riveting interference and the header size,and analysing the radial and axial stresses and strains in the hole wall during the loading and unloading stages of the die.(2)A finite element model of the interference fit riveting process was established and the riveting process was simulated using Abaqus software to obtain the change in interference and header size from loading to unloading,and to compare the change in interference and header size before and after loading.(3)The average interference volume,the uniformity of interference distribution,the interference volume and header size of the upper plate and the header at the fitting surface of the header are used as evaluation indicators,and the influence of the rivet hole diameter,rivet rod length,header height and the height of the concave arc of the top die on the riveting quality is analysed.(4)Using Taguchi’s test,grey correlation analysis and multi-objective weight determination methods,the multi-objective matching optimisation design of the interference fit riveting quality was carried out to obtain the optimal values of the design variables,comparing the optimisation results obtained by the entropy weight method and the principal component method,and determining the entropy weight method as the best combination of optimisation parameters.The interference uniformity was improved by 24.396%.
