Study On Urban Sewage Problems In Modern Qingdao (1897-1937

History of sewage is an important part of The urban history of Qingdao.As the urban scale of Qingdao expands day by day,in addition to foreign immigrants and domestic upper class,a large number of workers pour in,the population expands continuously,the materials needed to maintain production and living have been further increased.Under the influence of the construction of municipal facilities and the Western culture,people’s way of life and production also began to change,and the amount of domestic waste is growing,and the types were more diversified.At the same time,foreign capital also began to invade Qingdao.The German occupation of Qingdao laid the fundamental tone of Qingdao’s urban development,while Japan established a pattern of industrial and commercial development in Qingdao,focusing on textile industry.In addition,Qingdao’s national industry and commerce have also developed.The establishment of industrial and commercial enterprises has objectively promoted the development of Qingdao’s urban economy,but due to the lack of environmental awareness,most of the waste residue,waste water and waste gas of industrial production are directly discharged,causing water pollution and air pollution.From1897 to 1937,Germany,Japan and other administrative authorities have taken various measures to dispose of waste,such as strengthen the cleaning and shipped of garbage,standardize the removal and management,the construction of sewage in wastewater,etc.,such measures have played a positive role in cleaning the environment of Qingdao,but they still have many problems in the specific applicant process.Qingdao garbage disposal measures are mainly to ensure the cleanness of urban environment and prevent epidemics,Environmental problems in slums have not been properly addressed,and lack of specific and effective measures for the terminal of garbage.Because of the limitations of technology,whether landfill or incineration have caused a lot of damage to the environment and human health;Septic tank also overfilled with manure due to the lack of necessary maintenance;Sewage pipes drain water from scattered sources into the ocean,resulting in the destruction of Marine environment.
